A REVITALISED Denis Pagan says he has never been better equipped to coach, and would relish a chance to resume at AFL level.

Almost nine months after Carlton halted and probably finished his coaching career, Pagan told the Herald Sun: "Since I've had a break and been able to revisit and readdress all the things that make a coach successful, I've got no doubt I've never been in a better position to coach an AFL team.

Good luck Denis, but no one will employ you ...

I heard bits of an interview on SEN this morning.

To me, it sounded like Pagan admitted that he was behind the times when it came to coaching and that he has used the last 9 months to have a think about things. I still wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole!

The worst thing is, he has been involved with the development of an educational tool for prospective coaches.... would you really want to learn from him? I wonder if they have a disclosure stating that it was developed by a coach who had no idea and got the sack

a coach who refused to update, and change his style as time went on and the game evolved.

A coach who stubbornly held on for a lucrative pay cheque despite the club being on it's knees both on field and off field.

He is selfishness personified.

What happened at Carlton while Pagan was there , is not his fault

The Cheating started before Pagan got there and if were ever going to be caught the whole thing was going to explode in our faces, which it did

Pagan took over a team that just won its first wooden spoon , had a shocking list and which was about to get worst with early retirements to stars like Mckay and Ratten due to injury. A loss of draft picks to re-stock the list

But most importantly we were broke and ran everything on a shoe string except Pagan's last year when Pratt came in. Plus we had a board fighting non-stop, which meant no leadership from the top down

I bet if we look back in 10 years time , the major change or decision that changed everytime would not have been axing Pagan and getting Ratten , Its Pratt taking over and getting people like Swan and Icke in the place..

All rubbish. Pagan was the biggest part of the problem and thats a fact. He walked into a mess and just made it even worse.

I hear its actually a prgram for prospective coaches to learn a number of obscure and antiquated cliches, and how to use they for maximum effect by introducing them whenever you dont want anyone cottoning on to what you are saying.

Absolutely correct. However your common sense/logical argument won't get much support from most on this board who want to sink the boot into someone for the years of suffering caused by the previous administration. B/c Dennis came from outside Carlton he was an easy target for those that never have the guts to criticise the real Carlton people that caused the problem. A perfect example of this is the crticism of Pagan for accpeting a big contract when it was the real CArlton people like Kouta and Bradley and Allen that demanded the huge salaries which led to our salary cap crisis. Do these critics ever sink the boot into them for being greedy? DO u ever hear David PArkin criticised on this board for the years of woeful drafting and recruiting by him and his recruiting manager? what is amazing is how high everyone is on the new coach even though he has yet to win a home/away game with his 'modern' game plan.

Pagan was the scapegoat for gutless fans who don't want to criticise the real culprits at Carlton. I hope he coaches again and sticks it up them.

well who would u have drafted given as Dennis said, he had no one to match up on the goalith full forwards of the league?

hopefully for Dennis if he coaches again he won't walk into a totally f***ed up situation and he then won't have to resort to such desperate measures.
