So, why does he struggle so much?
Looking at his VFL numbers, they’re pretty underwhelming. For pick 4 you’d expect to dominate the level below somewhat. Looks like he struggles to even get involved. We just delisted Sam Weidman and he managed to get a fair bit of it in the backline. Wouldn’t mind another interceptor at Essendon, so I have some interest, but seems just ok.

Actually he was pick 6, which is cursed.

DGB was an odd one for us. His best game was his first one, and he never looked likely after that.

Was just never in the mix, even with the injuries.

Apparently a solid citizen and a good trainer too, so it was always a bit of a mystery

I like Kreuger as depth...genuine KP size and relative youth on his side. Suspect he may look better behind the ball too.

Doesn't have a tank and hasn't put on the size to take the bigger forwards. Not a great combination when he has barely improved in either area in 4 years

Does he intercept much?
I thought that was his strength in his draft year? Could be wrong though.

So? He doesn't play like a tall defender. He isn't a wrestle and spoil player. He is far more Jeremy McGovern than Tom Barrass.

Not all clubs are going to play a third tall marking defender, but that's what he would offer. Might not have the agility at ground level of Heath Chapman but a similar air game.

Surely clubs have seen enough of DGB and Kruger to know their full limitations. Across the state leagues there’s plenty of better mature picks IMO.
