fair enough super. there are alot of people who wont put their balls on the line so to speak but are more than happy to criticise etc.

i saw the colts game on the weekend and thought that there were a few kids that looked to be okay. #3 from hampton went alright as did #20. #4 from chelt looked a good type as well as #24 and #48.

back to the topic at hand, any more moves that have been whispered about????????
heard that lukey kirkland is leaving mordy, can chaddles confirm or deny this?????
moose from the clays to springy districts??
hope not coaching the vampires??

Every year there is the same rumour that Kirkland is going somewhere, yet he stays at the Bloods. He seems keen to go somewhere out of the SFL but not sure where - he might be crazy to go this year especially if the club can pick up a couple of key recruits and make the finals this season which they should. Be interesting to see if Azza is retained as coach again next season, hopefully they will make an announcement soon.

Not sure that they 'should' make the finals next year chaddles. Whilst Mordi did beat Chelt and run STKC close there is still a huge gap between the top 4 and the rest. The top four are only going to get stronger so it makes everyone's task all that more difficult. Add Dingley to the mix and it only gets tougher for someone to jump from the pack. Mordi would need to get another 6-7 very good players to crack the top four (and keep their current list).

House any reasonable SFL follower could decifer your little colour code mate ;) Good luck to your blokes next year hopefully you can bounce straight back up. The young guys you have there will help greatly. My old boy is a life member there so hope you can return to where you guys belong.

The SFL has some major issues going forward IMO

1. Under 18's- Its all well and good to say clubs MUST get 18's. Is it possible though. Bentleigh and Hampton Rovers for example are 2 ammos clubs with huge 19 squads. Using Moorabbin as an example (as I can speak about that having been there) Hampton Rovers have monopolised the area. They have made it almost impossible to develop 18's squads. This is common throughout the league. It is not impossible but very difficult.

2. Umpiring- The standard of umpiring in the Southern League needs a complete overhaul. Very poor and not improving

3. Market Saturation- Simply there are to many clubs in the southern area if you include the ammos clubs. These are not growth areas yet continue to try and sustain numerous clubs. In some cases you have 3-4 clubs within 2 kilometers of eachother. It is very difficult to get sponsorship dollars. This is not helped by the complete inability to get any revenue from gate at most grounds

4. Reputation- People may get pissed at this one but the facts are the leagues reputation outside of the SFL is very poor. It is regarded (rightly or wrongly) as the weakest metropolitan league in the state. It is also generally regarded as being aggresive/violent (wrongly in most cases). Many people feel that it is very sick from the outer. I am sure you will all jump down my throat with this one but I speak to many people involved with various leagues and this is the general feeling about the SFL. There are fantastic clubs in this competition but we can not have our heads in the sand on this issue. The image of the league needs an overhaul. I belive that correct steps are being put in place but more needs to be done

Two very true points here.

My sources from within the SFL & VAFA tell me that the U18's comp is still very much borderline with a lack of commitment from many clubs.

Unfortunately it is true that the SFL as a brand is very tarnished both in standard and behavior and with the possible demise of Div 3, this doesn't look like changing in the near future. Whilst SFL are cutting teams the VAFA has at least 6 on the waiting list.

So wrong magic roach. St Kilda City, Dingley, Highett, all have existing under 17's that will go straight up to the Colts comp that will lift the numbers further. Go back to your Amateur haven and isn't that the league that pay players such as Tallis, Loats, Hilton, Rhodes, Robbins at least with the SFL what you see is what you get the VAFA are not upfront. Last year the VAFA tried under 18' and didn't get it off the ground this year try again well if Westbourne get a team up and so do Peninsula I hope the VAFA will pay for petrol....

A little hesitant to go dropping names. Players most likely to follow are the ones who've been with George for their entire senior career. Some of whom played juniors at Lyndale and\or Nth Dandy.

Come on mate you've started the ball rolling, if what you have heard is true then it wont matter if you mention a few names. i for one am quite interested to see the names that might be leaving as i know Jonesy was very tight with some of the boys that have come up through the ranks with him...

The only point I was making there was that with that many players involved at your club, surely there was a capacity to raise enough cash to pay the bills.
Other clubs have inherited debt from 07 administration and turned a profit this year! They weren't affected by a recession
Good administration and a junior program is the only secret to survival...forget where your senior team is currently at.
You're been very quite all year house, and now that your teams not getting pumped each week you've decided to come out and start laying the boots into all the clubs that will be pumping you again next year.
Welcome to div 3 my friend. I hope you're stay is long and unpleasant. :D

Very touchy James05. You don't have to get all defensive when someone makes an informed opinion.

Hey blac, I will confirm that the club is (slightly) struggling financially, but nowhere in the position we were left in a couple of years ago. Aside from the debt incurred by our past treasurer, we are meeting our financial commitment to the league WHILST still chipping away at said debt. People can sit on the sidelines and potshot that with so many players we should have money coming in hand over foot, but with a vast majority of our players still students or apprentices, most don't have access to a lot of funds or an employer that they can hit up for sponsorship. We have been lucky in the last couple of years that our committee has put in the hard yards to attract some sponsors, but with so mnay senior and junior clubs in the area, there is only so much to go around. But in answer to your question, I'm pretty sure that you'll still see Mount Waverley F.C. as is next year.

George Jones to launch a big effort for the Lyndale Senior job. Bringing a band of players from Clayton with him. Not Happy Hulmey !!!!!

come on cc give us some names, will be interested to see who they are, and as homer22 said it wont make a difference if you name them coz they are leaving clayton from all your reports

I haven't been posting to this topic, but have been following it. I didn't see it as a Division 1 (or 2) thread. The title certainly doesn't specify a Division.

As your time is clearly of more value than most, I suggest you only look at threads that are specific to the Division that interests you.

Anyone heard more on the above rumour? Would be a good acquisition for Lyndale if true.... This was posted over a week ago and nobody has said anything so I would doubt the accuracy of the post. Any info anyone?

WORD ON THE STREET IS young gun joel harding is sticking with the canterbury cobras, now this is big news considering the hansom offers he could have gained at other clubs due to his extreme pace, courage, and ability to read the play, my sources say even if he got offfered $500 elsewhere per game, he believes no money can beat the awesome canterbury club experience...This is a massive win for the cobras who are a club to be reckoned with in the coming years
