The Copeland Trophy voting system

1. Each player is allocated one vote for each game in which he is selected to represent the Collingwood Football Club.

2. Up to 20 votes per game can be allocated to the best players as judged by the Collingwood Match Committee. Votes are awarded based on the average vote of all members of the Match Committee.

3. In the event that two or more players finish with the same number of votes then the player who has played in the least amount of games takes the higher position. If these players have played the same number of games then the player who has polled the greater number of “high value” votes will take the higher position.

Just checked, up until 2017 it was the match committee.

The last 2 seasons it switched to the coaches. You learn something new every day I guess. I actually could have sworn it was the players for some reason but I must be getting that mixed up with a different award altogether.

I didn't know that either. Would have guessed match committee but didn't know players had a say too.

And?

The coaches rate lots of players I don't. Like Langdon, like Reid. But then clearly don't rate players I do, like Daicos. What's your point? I was asked why I don't **** on Will Hoskin-Elliott and I explained why.

Wait... You don't rate Langdon?

Wow.

I played for Dingley In the long gone south west Gippsland league.... the most suburban club in that compAll the rest were further east..... narre, cranny, Berwick, and the epically named ROC were all in that league. Doveton were the meanest! ( I never played for or against noble park my local team)
What years was it roughly? I think the league changed while i was playing but i started in under 9's when I was 7 in 1987 up until under 16 in 1996.

I played against pretty much the same teams so I'm thinking the name of the league just changed. Also played against Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills, Devon Meadows I think... not Dingley though.

Late 70’s . Other teams were Hallam ( in juniors they were narre-Hallam and then in seniors they were two seperate clubs), Chelsea heights, and our local rivals Keysborough. Not endeavour hills but the others you mentioned were in the league . Might have been one or two more.

Yeah Hallam were in it and Keysborough. They must have just renamed the league and redrew the boundaries a little bit and Dingley moved into more south east region where they belong. It would have been a hike for you every second week, they are better off playing Highett, Cheltenham, Mentone like they do now... Dingley is a bit of an outlier in that region, too rich for our blood lol.

Mossgeil Park were another one definitely in it and maybe Beaconsfield, kind of remember them maybe being in it.

There's a difference between being 6th best player for the season and 6th best player on the list.
I never said he was our sixth best player. I used his Copeland trophy finish last season to illustrate he is an important player, and is highly rated by the club.

Can Craig Starcevich win the Brownlow?

I think you’ll find Timmy, he hasn’t played enough games this season.

Timmy was pretty close with his Norm Smith prediction.

He was just about best on ground for the quarter and a half he was on the ground (came on after Daniher knocked Brown out,and starred right up until when he himself was knocked out by the same bloke!!!!)
