Are talking restaurants or restaurants?
Anyway, I would have thought that including as much business within the stadium would faciliate the best returns considering there is little competition atm.
It is such a shame. We see all the different coterie groups in Melbourne. ..

Oh well.

At least it will feel very "Perth" to only have 650 dining seats in two rooms.

That way you can clamp down on the idea of having a club function, a coterie lunch, a visiting club function. ...etc

The last thing we need is the normal level of hospitality that prevails throughout the industry.

Those may be minimum values - will have to see the summaries for the designs which actually get tabled.

It'd be insane if that was the upper limit of what they want, though. The demand is there in spades for that kind of mid-range coterie type membership, rather than simply Seated Membership->Golden Eagles (eg) (be actually rich and wait a decade). Both in the West Coast and Fremantle supporter bases there are a lot of people with the disposable income to invest in a mid-level hospitality option, that sort of $1-$3k/pp mark (akin to WB's Top Dogs/Westerners, StK 300/Halo, NM's Northerners, Collingwood B&W, etc.

Think it is a massively overlooked area for promoting (more than just the money) a tighter involvement between club and supporters.

Apart from coteries and restaurants run by football I thought a business orientated government would've tried tried to establish as much independant business as possible to obtain the best lease income.
IMO the actual structure could be used more to create more cost effective peripheral business somewhat akin to a shopping mall. The extra floorspace being used for a multitude of purposes from sports administration, hospitallity, gyms, shopping even accomodation.

Surely it is a goal for both WA clubs to have 4 or more good coterie clubs that each host meals and functions at games the way you see at Etihad. At Essendon games you have the Lawdons, Essendonians, Diamond Dons all having their functions and sitting together in a reserved area. But how can that be achieved under the current spec?

The Govvy guys have rolled up the sleeves on the brown cardigan and written into the spec that there should be one 500 seater and one 150 seat a la carte joint.

There is an article that says the WACA are considering the WAFC office space at the WACA and playing tests at the new stadium and contributing to the new stadium.

I would have thought just building a stadium and nothing else quite cost ineffective. Surely the new stadium should be able to accomodate sports administration from football and other sports. The Swan's application to build a function room at the SCG was knocked back decades ago. There seems to be no consideration for club rooms for either of the WA AFL clubs.

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/business/a/-/wa/18991122/wa-loses-triple-a-credit-rating/

WA's credit rating has been downgraded by one of the world's big three ratings agencies, saying the State Government was failing to show the necessary "political will" to bring down Government debt.

In a stunning move, Standard and Poor's - which last year put WA on negative credit watch - said today it would downgrade WA debt to AA+ from AAA.

Welp. Somethings got to give. What's the bet Barnett gets kicked and the first move Buswell does as premier is to can the stadium to save costs.

Hopefully, but you can bet that Barnett wont be leading the Liberals to the next election. Has pissed off enough people within his party with his forced council mergers, demotions of some previous ministers and education cuts. Buswell will have the numbers to win a challenge.

Buswell will not lead the Liberal Party again.

Barnett may well announce that he will retire at the next election at some point anyway.

Buswell will not lead the Liberal Party again.

Why would you think that? Because he ruled it out before the election? Gillard also ruled out being PM a month before becoming PM. Take what politicians say about leadership with a grain of salt. Since Porter quit state politics, Buswell is the only one who can and is the best performing Liberal minister.

It's not what he says that's the issue - its the fact there is absolutely no way on earth that this state would elect a party with Buswell at the helm. It'll vote Greens into government before Buswell.

If Buswelll takes over now, he has almost 4 years as premier to convince the public he's not the party boy devil child he was once made out to be in opposition.

It'll be a great look to forcefully take over from Barnett after explicitly stating that the ALP's campaign of 'Vote Barnett get Buswell' was nonsense.

Most people support council amalgamations. They're just not vocal nimby's.

Do they? I imagine many would support adjustments, and perhaps amalgamations of the smaller councils.

Pretty much everyone i know supports them with specific objections. They still support them though.

Every wants council amalgamations as long as it is someone else's council we're talking about.

Some people are like that. I know a lot of residents of Inglewood eager to leave Stirling behind, there is obviously some people who think Stirlings open neglect was a sign of good heritage/ conservation practice.

I'm in the Town of Victoria Park and support the merger with South Perth and whole the peninsula going to CoP. It's peripheral to the CoVP and what they're doing elsewhere. They've neglected the area for years, their town planning scheme has been an abject failure.
