5 times during the 80's and 90's is quite numerous, one would think...

Jethro Tulls "living in the past" was a good song, but it doesn't deserve the high rotation it gets here...

that "WTF JUST HAPPENED!!" look on all the Dawks faces after Jimmah got the point was priceless, too bad we won't get to slap 'em down a 3rd time this year, would've been the icing on the sloppy **** revenge cake.

One choke - 2008. The rest were losses to better teams, and they're completely irrelevant to the current day. Why would we give a shit about something that happened 20 years ago?

Because its a part of your culture no matter how hard you try to deny it.....last year was another clear example. :) :thumbsu:

People like you are complete morons. Past culture means jack shit. A team with an entirely different playing group and administration are not fazed by problems of the past. Geelong won it in 2007 therefore it proves your wrong cos they won a premiership. Which apparently goes against "their culture". Culture means nothing and if the Saints win it this year It's people like you who will get the sh1t rubbed in their face first.

That's why we give a shit about it 20 years on? Because it's in our culture? Never mind the fact that it was different players, different coaches, different everything, the only thing that remains the same is the name of the club.

It's a bit like saying that because my great grandfather, who died before I was born, sold garments at the market, that it's in my culture to sell garments at markets...

Being a St.Kilda tossa, you have to say that. It's in your membership kit isn't it? 1 flag and how many wooden spoons? 27+? :D
Culture indeed :p :thumbsu:

You tell 'em sherr! :thumbsu:
It's purely just bad luck that Geelong continue to lose Grand Final after Grand Final. Nothing at all to do with your club's losing, choking culture. Anyone who says otherwise is just a ninkempoop

BTW, what sort of garments do you sell? Handbags & ladies evening gowns?

It's the case that Geelong happened to be the second best team in the comp for much of the 80s/90s. Last year it was a case of us being well off our game for whatever reason.

Weren't Hawthorn off their game as well?
Their Captain in Mitchell was pathetic in 1st half. Nothing special in 2nd half.
Franklin & Roughead 3 or 4 goals between them?
Their best, many would say only decent defender in Croad off early in the 2nd quarter.
Their best player up to half time in Young doesn't play the 2nd half.
And the Geelong midfielders dominated as usual.
Geelong couldn't have asked for it any better. Even the umpires did all they could to get the Cats over the line. Yet they still lost...... thanks to a bloke with broken/dodgy ribs in Hodge, an overweight player in Dew, an inconsistent player in Williams, and a 1st year player in Rioli.

So what does that all have to do with losing a bunch of Grand Finals in the 90s? We were only the minor premiers once in those 4 years; half a game ahead of West Coast in 92, underdogs in all others.

We choked in 2008, fair enough, but what does that have to do with the past? The only past Grand Final relevant to this team is the 2007 one. Given how well we performed in that one, maybe we expected things to go well in the 08 one too.

PS Great effort today by the mighty Bombers :thumbsu:
