Is there a company out there making $$$ to splash on professional sports sponsorship that isn't evil?

Not really hence my original comment was tongue in cheek, sarcasm as it where to the people that moan about our connection with the pokies.

Not sure this sits well with me, being sponsored by a franchise that contributes to obesity and health problems.

Thank god we're not sponsored by one of those companies that contributes to the road toll. Oh, wait.
Car manufacturers contribute to the road toll about the same way as traffic light manufacturers & line-marking painters do.

Unless a manufacturing fault makes the vehicle the cause (or a contributer) of death then this statement is something something.

Love the sponsorship, big multinational company. Nothing wrong with it at all.

The thing that I chuckle at is the Twister as a healthy alternative, they're all chowing into one in those ads and they've got 50% more calories than the burgers do.

Never understood the whole wrap = healthy thing. Guess it has tomatoes in it.

Yep.
If you are counting calories, best just give the whole place a miss.

I remember the 5% discount (or whatever it was).

A young man, living out of home, eating KFC all the time. Then one bay my brain/tastebud combination said 'nope, from this day going forward, KFC shall evermore taste oily/fatty/shitty...forever'.

and that was that, pretty much haven't/can't eat KFC since then. 15 or so years, with one or 2 exceptions, and I regretted those.

So health wise it all worked out in the end.

KFC is the #1 fast food chain in China. This is off the back of us doing a GCS deal to play in Shanghai as soon as covid travel restrictions lift for next season. Don't get too happy about it.

Didn’t a certain president call that a massive waste of money

Not a good choice of sponsor and I doubt the club thinks so either. Has to reflect the difficulty in finding a sponsor.

A large, successful and instantly recognisable multinational company isn't a good choice of sponsor? Bold take.

I'm with you Ned... I would argue it's an exceptional choice of sponsor, and most other clubs would wish they could secure them...

Do we know $$$ and years?

Not sure - however they are listed on our site under the 'Major Partners' section which is on the same tier as iinet, Adidas and Nissan - so dare say it is a fairly decent sponsorship.

Maybe. It's not the worst choice, but it's nowhere near the best or ideal. We've already had players talking up eating KFC. Kids are influenced by that and it's another thing parents have to police or watch. If size and recognition are the main features for a sponsor of a football club advocating themselves as the 'family club', then we are just going to disagree.

Again - the 'family club' is an internal thing not external - it doesn't mean the 'family values' club. Also I think there is plenty of market saturation aimed at kids regarding KFC as it is that the Hawks doing some silly skits on Twitter isn't going to be a drop in the ocean when it comes to childhood obesity overall. Parents should be having conversations with their kids around food and nutrition as it is - that isn't the responsibility of the Hawthorn board. They are there to keep the club viable - which this deal does.

Growing up the Raiders had a lime milk drink called Raiders Lime - and as a kid I worshipped Mal Meninga who did the ads for it. I didn't get obese as a kid consuming Raiders Lime because my parents only let me have it occasionally as a treat.
