Did the Swan's ever pay Adam Goodes 1mil a year?

As others have noted, Goodes would be on a pretty penny his whole career, and it's highly unlikely that Tippet would be on $1m.

But the benefit a KP contested marking forward Tippet brings to Sydney during their "premiership window" is huge. Can you imagine your team's defense lining up on Tippet, Reid, Goodes, LRT, Mitch Mr September Morton, McGlynn and either Pyke or Mumford?

Seriously, think about your defenders and who would go to who. Sydney aren't paying for Tippet, they're paying for a royal headache for every defense in the league.
That many talls would most likely get slaughtered by any team.

Just wondering, couldn't find much on the net past 700k a year

Anyway all this kurt tippett stuff got me thinking whether a proven premiership playing dual brownlow medalist ever got what the swans are throwing at Kurt, and how that sits with sydney fans? Adam goodes 3 x the player he is. Even Sam Reid has more upside to him imo. I just know being from pies I'd love to have him but not for that price.

He won't........................but players get a bigger income now than they did in our 2005 p'ship year. Player payments have increased,

Is Cloke getting more money than Swan or Pendles? He shouldn't after the year that he had & with all the disruption. That would be unsettling for the other players with a few players' noses put out of joint with the squeezing out of Dawes & Wellingham.

Entirely different time-scales

Goodes was likely on the Equivalent of $1million a year, if he was being paid 700k following his brownlow year of 2003.

in 2004 the cap was $6,115,000
in 2008 the cap was 7,950,000
in 2012 The cap was 8,780,000
(and in 2013 this is 600k higher again)

When Goodes first got 700k it would equal as much as 1million or more in 2013 just by how much the cap has grown.

Also, there is no proof Tippett is getting anywhere near 1m.
Exactly. Maybe 500 k i think, why would anyone pay a player 1 millon a year. Actually everyone what player in the afl gets 1 millon a year?

so why wont your team give up anything of value to get him then?

Hell where have you been ? Even our rookies are on 500K. That cola tastes great :thumbsu:
If poor Adam is feeling the pinch financially we could probably kick a few extra brown paper bags over the coffee table at him.
I doubt it very very very much. Salary cap bracket creep.
For the apex players sitting right up there looking down, they usually need to move clubs to pull the truly massive wedge. Hello Chris and Gary.
He probably would have fielded the odd record offer earlier in his career at some points in time, but he hasnt even used these to feather his own nest at Sydney. Has been the definition of a one club player that has sacrificed perhaps 30% at a guess to the open market...fair whack of money over the journey, but at the same time he's been on apex $ for a long time, which he has consistently earnt. Treated very fairly underpinning his worth to the club.

If he flogs a few chocolate bars for chump change, i doubt anyone would begrudge that.
I wouldnt have thought he'd be too worried about the electricity bill hikes :thumbsu:

Because we feel we're in a position where we are the only club that can get him? If we feel we can get him for nothing in the draft then it seems illogical to offer anyone that is an important part of our 2013 plans.
