Did We Write Off Hawthorn Too Soon?

Who exactly in the top eight do Hawthorn fear? Sydney, Adelaide and Geelong are three teams the Hawks can beat in a final. Richmond have never played the Hawks in a final ever. Don't even get me started on Western Sydney. A team who still haven't beaten Hawthorn yet away from home! You wouldn't want to play a full strength Hawthorn team in a final at the MCG.

They’re also teams who can beat you in a final so I don’t really see your point.

Hawthorn have won 10 of the last 13 against Sydney, 11 of the last 12 against Adelaide, 11 of the last 12 against Collingwood, five in a row against Western Sydney at home. Sydney and Adelaide couldn't even beat an under-strength Hawks outfit last year. So I really don't see your point. :)

WWSD you are going by on past results. This Hawthorn team is massively different to the 3peat champion side.

Richmond are miles ahead of us atm. If both teams met in a final right now they would win and win easy. Last game the scoreline flattered us.

Also GWS may not have beaten us at our home yet but they have pumped us at their home b4.

We are a finals type side atm but let's not pretend we are the all conquering no fear team of the 2013-2015 years.

If GWS played Hawthorn in a final in Melbourne right now I would be very confident the Hawks would win.

I don't think that is the point he is trying to make, we are obviously far from that great team we were a few years ago. We do have good records against top 8 teams recently and have beaten Sydney, Geelong, Adelaide with this current list of players. Richmond is probably our biggest concern but we can beat anyone on our day.

The entire point of this thread is not saying that we are going to dominate everyone and walk in a flag, it's the fact that we are still a top 8 contender that can beat good teams and can't be written off yet.

Oh don’t worry, Essendon’s utter shitness does not detract for one second how utterly bog average Hawthorn are.
Pretty sure you were pretty uppity about your chances earlier in the year. And the club was too topping up with three players.

Meanwhile Jaegar is on the field and doing more than handballing and Hawthorn is playing a number of young players with the shitty picks they had and weirdly enough these younguns are acquitting themselves very well.

Admit it - you said we had the worst list in the league - admit you’re wrong. Come on mate.

Hawthorn caved your heads in with 1 quarter of football yesterday, so yes, I agree Essendon are tremendously shit.

Sydney are 2-4 against you in the last half dozen and have a bunch of players remaining from the side that beat you in a grand final you were expected to dominant (and yes I know you returned the favour).
Geelong’s record needs no introduction, and despite what people have been led to believe, we’ve fared fine against you in finals. Unfortunately not the one that mattered most.

Adelaide - fair point.

I don't mind Port's recent record against Hawks tbh
