Thanks for the great work done during trade week Denis! You and your merry men did a fantastic job to improve our player list. Saddington is all we got?

I like Saddington but why was nothing done for Lappin, Fevola, Whitnall or Camporeale - 1 or 2 of them should have been traded at the very least.

Camporeale and/or Lappin will now walk for free so well done Denis!

No point trading away players for the sake of it. We couldn't get decent deals for them so no deals were done. I don't see the problem.

lance was a priority signing all along, the club were not going to let him leave. he was the player who had the most interest from other clubs

fev- the only interest came from Ric, who were not prepared to give us 2x round 1 draft picks

campo- ess in the box seat to pick up in PSD, we can re draft him but it would be pointless

lappin- not much interest and IMO we are going to keep him

sporn- adel showed interest, don't know the reason the deal fell through

as has been said there is no point trading away players if you are not going to get something decent in return, making change for the sake of change is not smart

we still have picks 1 + 4 + 20 and have picked up a tall bakmen and pick 1 in PSD

I think I overated the importance of the 1st PSD pick. Thought we could blackmail clubs into making some unfair trades. Not to be...

Sheedy certainly made the most of his PSD pick. Then again, all you need is money to lure Campo.

On a side note, I would've loved to have picked up Selwood. We could use a quality tagger.

Do you think the SWans offloaded Saddington cheaply b/c we were determined to get him and had the PSD No.1? If we had pick 10 I doubt we would have been so successful in getting him cheaply...The other guys who went for first round draft picks aren't better than Saddington I reckon (e.g. Richards, Watts). I''m quite happy with Saddington. He looks like he will be better than either Norman or Prendergast or DeLuca (gee that was ugly when he played down back) playing the talls across half back if he remains injury free.
Now we get to use the PSD draft for real...hope we get Selwood. Any news on Merrett?
What the chances of getting Woewodin now Campo's gone? He'll play for a lot less money and do a similar quality job.

I think you'll find Sydney had to trade someone as they had already drafted Chambers from Geelong and Richards from Essendon. I doubt they would have been able to get them all in under their Salary Cap. That's why we probably got Saddington for nothing really.

As for Woedodin, there is no way Carlton would look at him next year. The best Woey could look for is either a sport on a VFL list or go back to Perth and play in the WAFL.

Would love to be able to get Selwood in the PSD. What a great acquisition that would be. Fingers crossed!!

Lance got what he wanted - $400k a year. Unbelievable for a bloke who had an OK year (please don't give me "but he came third in the B&F" - the club had a shocking year) and prior to that hadn't had a kick for several years.

He better come back fit next year..............

What else could they do??? No one wanted our players. Simple as that. We dont have much quality there. Would have loved to at least get a late 2nd round for campo but hey. Lappin will now stay prob, they will upgrade the offer Now that campo has walked.Th I wonmder how sticks and Braddles really feel about campo now?

Who says Lance got $400,000 a year? Nonsense. Carlton offered $350,000 and he accepted.

As for the trade period, I can live without trading for more hacks. We've got enough of those as it is.

Sure it would've been nice to get some picks for Campo or Lappin but that wasn't going to happen. The reality is that clubs didn't want them that much and I can understand why. Pagan and co can't do anything about that.

The negativity of some of the posters on this board sickens me sometimes.

Saddington is a terrific acquisition for pick 52 and will play more games than the 52nd pick in the 2005 nothing draft.

I'm glad we kept Lance and Fevola. If reserve players such as Hay, Watts, McConnell, Chambers, Richards and Cole can gain their clubs first or second round picks, then I'm glad we kept them.We would have been ripped off on balance of the trade and ended up having to pay half of Fevola's salary.

Camporeale and Lappin are both thirty and had no value other, than a dud in Bolton who thankfully knocked back a trade.Phew! I think we finished on top by dumping an overpaid, underperforming greedy downhill skier.Yet Camporeale still has the temerity to demand more money when his career is going to come to a sudden halt like Murphy, Allan and Beaumont.

They walked because they wouldn't take the reasonable offer the club presented to them.Trade week proved what other clubs think of their worth :D .

lappin can leave!!!!
it'l save us cash anyways...... hes tried and failed to string us along as did campo..bye bye

btw lapo is one of my favorite players!!!

btw what happens if we cant get an agreement out of him does he have to play for us next year or is he is the next draft??

Lappin's uncontracted and should walk if he can get the money plus three year's.Deserves it for apparently being underpaid while Campo, etc raked in the dollars.

Sheedy would be wiser to draft Skinny who still managed to kick 25 goals in a poor year.Despite sooking over his contract. It's not as if they have a small forward who can kicks at least 25 goals.Unless you're consider the unfit Rioli and Cupido "senior" players.

Absolutely nothing to say we won't get him in the Pre-Season Draft. Brisbane didn't trade anything which means a lot of people are on minimum wage or there are a number going into the PSD.

It's going to be a really hard decision if both he and Rodan are available.

I say Rodan. Probably has more class and was looking very good in the midfield before the knee injury. If the structure wasn't working up forward one night, could you imagine Betts and Rodan under the feet of Barnaby or Lance?

I thought it was an ok enough trade period. The great thing about the silly season is anything can happen and you can speculate a lot.

Realisitically, Saddington came to Carlton for a pick we probably would've passed on anyway.

Not sure about that, they get 600k more than you club so i think they wouldn't have too many problems with the salary cap.

I mean he's really going to strengthen the Bullants backline for next year.
No, he'll help Teague, Russell, Hartlett down back where we are regularly exposed for height and run.Unless you want to see Morrell and Prendergast running around again instead of an established 142 game backmen.

I love how we're already bagging a guy who was a very good player, and lumping him in with players like Chambers and Longmuir.

yea it's far too early to be jumping on the poor bloke's back. We gave away a nothing pick ... Saddington could turn into nothing and provide some leadership value to the Bullants ... nothing lost ... or he could capture some of his old form and add some much needed class to our backline. Let's wait at least until the end of round 1 to comment on this one!

Well i would have liked deals to have been done but thats in the past. We should re-sign Lappin, let Campo go and pick up two players in the PSD. Selwood seems the first choice.

Goodbye Campo,
he's seeking permission from the AFL to train with Essendon in the off season.

If Carlton come to terms with Lappin,
as a current player,
i don't think they will have to redraft him.

Or i may be wrong.

Good thing is, we didn't trade for the heck of it,
or more likely other clubs weren't leaping at players with 15 games in a season of only 5 wins.

Last years lot to come through, still are to get 2 of the best 5 in the country (3 in the top 20),
can also draft delisted players (hope we don't) as well as first pick in psd,
