Do the Pies Have The Depth in 2008 ?

Just to cover our selves do you guys believe that the pies have the depth to cover injuries on our mission to the holy grail in 2008 ?
If not what, are we lacking to make a full assault toward the premiership ?
The reason i bring this up,is that already, one week into the nab cup clubs have alraedy got serious injuries, which could effect the outcome of their season.
9 first yr players in 07 history would suggest that most 1st yr players struggle in thier 2nd yr.Lets hoe most of our debbutants stand up other wise our depth is shallow.
ps Bodie Holland for abig year.

Two players we cant lose, the same two that have been our most important players for the last few years.

J.Fraser
A.Rocca, although with T.Cloke coming along Rocca aint as important as he used to be.

Feel if either of them go down we will struggle and be back in the pack.

The rest we can cover

We will finally find out once IF the injuries take a toll on our team, that if we have any depth in our team. From what i saw last year when we had our big names out we still have plenty of depth to take premierly final, But that was last year, it might be different i don't know we might have to wait til round 6 to 8 to see how our team will go. But by teh looks of things it should be a good season.

I believe we have deepth of players willing to push for senior positon, but not a walk up starter in our best 22. I still think that the pies are a good two or three quality inside midfielders off, and a quality ruckman to have a good chance for the holy grail.

We have depth, but there is a hole in the mid age bracket from the disastrous 01/02/03 recruiting period that only produced Swan and Heater. By the time the under 22's really mature we could have very few of the current mature age players left

For example Geelong have 22 players between the ages of 22 and 27

We have 11

I think our biggest potential weakness will be in the backline, Clement's retirement is a big loss. If Presti and/or Wakes get injured, we could be struggling to fill the gaps.

Oh and whichever genius thought Cloke for Bryan was trading up needs to be sacked on the spot
it wasnt a trade mate we took bryan on the pre season draft as his shoulders arnt made of paddle pop sticks and carlton took the delisted fat boy cam cloke (i will concede he has lost his fat boy antics the shoudlers are still rooted)

We need to hope a few guys out of MCarthy, Dyas, Barham, Dawes, Brown, Reid, Wellingham and Anthony can step up and be last seasons Clarke, Pendles, Goldsack. While the aforementioned players move to the next level as our elite players. Otherwise teams like the Hawks and the Kangaroos will go past us.

We both know it was a trade despite the particulars.. a bad trade

Cameron Cloke deserved to be delisted he was going nowhere fast the only way he would get anything more out of his career was to get the boot and shake him up a bit. I still don't rate him anyway.

Bryan had huge potential and just like Cloke was worth a punt for Carlton, Bryan was worth a punt for us. We weren't aware that we could get Bryan when we deslited Cloke, so it wasn't a trade not even indirectly. He still has a season to turn it around and could be valuable to our list. Hell he already is as cover for our 2 main rucks in Fraser and Wood.

Bryan was still likely to sign at carlton when we got rid of Cam, so we had no diea we could get him.

believe what you like at the time (and i still say now too) Bryan had greater potential and current skill level than Cam Cloke, as well as having a body that stands up to afl football even though he had surgery during the 07 pre season

Bryan was the player we replaced Cloke with on the list, hence the loose usage of the term trade, don't get too caught up in the semantics fellas

All you really need to know is that it was.. is.. and will be a crap trade!

Didn't take Einstein to work out Bryan was not going to get better at mid age and Cloke had not matured yet

Continuing the great tradition of Matthew Francis, Smith and McKee (Don't even get me started on the Pavlich pick)

These ridiculous choices have cost us at least 2 premierships since 2000 so don't let me stop you from justifying them, but don't expect a flag anytime soon either unless Wood turns out to be a keeper and Keefe is fast tracked next year after we kick Bryans fat arse to the curb
