Pretty worried at the moment.

Hearing more and more from people who were Beveridge backers and supporters, and people who were prepared to give him more time (and I count myself among these) that they’re sick of him - people on BF, and people I know in real life.

People who gave him even more leeway than he was arguably entitled to, who were adamant in their faith in him - they’re all growing increasingly impatient with him.

The next few weeks - Brisbane, Richmond, Port Adelaide.

If we play against these teams as we played tonight, it will be Lord of the Flies level savage.

Someone said that because we re-signed him it means he’s safe regardless.

I don’t buy that for a second.

If things don’t turn around, the pressure on him is only going to get worse.

Things have to change and fast.

That doesn’t surprise me one bit. Since the 2021 GF it’s been almost a wholly negative experience following him and the club -performances, attitudes, baffling game plans /tactics, comms/PR etc.

It sucks, but ultimately tonight’s loss will be a turning point (and it surely has to be, it was so bad that I’m not sure how it’s redeemable). If we’d beaten the saints, jagged one more win in the next few, and gone into the easier stretch of the season at 2-4 we’d probably have done our standard “sneaking into the eight with a good late run” trick. Now it’s likely to be 0-5 at least with maybe a percentage around 50-60%.

It wasn’t pretty down by the race. Things are getting toxic very quickly.

Get in front of it and sack him on Monday.

Been in the same seats at Marvel for 20 years and so have a lot of the other supporters in the area. Over whelming majority want Bevo gone. These are loyal paid up Members for over 20 years. I have not been a Bevo fan since 2017 so I was a bit of an outlier. Finally everyone else hss come on board.

I'm not sure how he can stay. 2017 was the big warning. We win the flag then miss finals. Seriously, how could that happen?
My memory is all the line coaches were swapped around and it was a disaster.
Since 2016 we haven't made top 4, with a list other teams dream of.
The outlier year 2021, where once again we did it the hard way falling short in the end.
There's no consistency, no game style change defensively, the dinosaur forward line is just that, one-paced midfield, battling foot soldiers, poor goalkicking, poor selection.
I'm sure others have other criticisms but it really is time to cut ties with a coach that has run out of ideas and seemingly can't inspire the playing list, or the fans
any longer

We actually haven’t finished top 4 during a H&A season since 2010…

Take a trip back in time. 2021 home and away season. Dogs are top of the ladder with three games to go: Essendon, Hawks and Port Adelaide (at Marvel). Bookies are offering 200:1 odds on us to miss top four. We are three wins and about 20 percentage points ahead of fifth-placed. We then go on to do the UNTHINKABLE.

The fact that we got to the GF really took a lot of attention away from what was one of the most pathetic pre-finals chokes of all time. In hindsight it should have been a big sign that something wasn't right at the club. It also cost Bont the Brownlow that year.

The only way I see anything happening is someone comes from the clouds with the stomach for a fight, the conviction and the B***s to take on the current board and the whole football department

They come in with their own people ready to go.

My biggest fear is there is no one like this and players and good players will explore other options.
I am 100% sure clubs are into the ears of some of players managers of our good players

To be honest, I'm feeling a lot more empathetic towards Dunkley now and his decision to leave. I remember hearing rumours that Dunkley wasn't happy with the level of professionalism and training standards at the club. He also let slip about the fact that we don't do a lot of running. I genuinely don't think he was taking a shot at the club with that comment, but the truth tends to slip out from time to time.

Maybe Bevo kept his job because he has some dirt on quite a few of the board members - read this from 2015 - worked as a tax man , and for AUSTRAC .

ok I'll leave it there, quite possible he is a communist, has dirt on people at the club and has connections all over the place. -

something to think about I guess, then again perhaps not
There is a crazy leap of logic, then there's 'Bevo's a communist" talk

After listening to Bevo's press conference, his " lets sit down and work this out approach " sounds all very nice and cosy , yet at the end of the day , some times people need a good kick up the bum .

I understand why he tries to communicate with players the way he does. and I'm not saying he should be bashing players heads into lockers and the like. there has to be a point when he gets these players to start acting like brave men, who can take criticism and be told some hard cold truths . to find that fire in their guts and use it on the field. they sure as hell aren't focused. so what is going on there ? like rabbits blinded in the middle of the road by a cars head lights. -

A serious question here , Is Bevo a believer of Communism by any chance. ?

I ask this from some of his past speeches to the players. and it would explain a lot if he was.

Have you seen how athletes from communist countries perform? We’ve got guys who advertise underwear. I’d say blaming communism for our overpaid underperforming lot is a pretty big stretch.

He's got no game plan. He has consistently underperformed with a very good list. His decision making is bizarre. The level of coaching is just not up to it. Our list management has gone from being the best to the worst. We've given talent away for literally nothing. Take off the rose tinted specs it's a live car crash in ultra slow motion.

The players are unfit and a lot are unprofessional. I see them smashing schooners at the Mona lisa and the pub in yarraville during the season. The night of the north Melbourne practice match several of the players were in the siglo bar drinking and smoking cigars. Talent only gets you so far, you need to work hard and be professional. The culture is rotten.

Things have to change and fast.

Problem is, things needed to change and fast 2-3 seasons ago. Teams have adopted a blueprint to combat the ultra-zone - hit it hard and direct at speed in numbers. It was blindingly obvious at the end of last year that we needed to adapt and we have failed. Yet Ross Lyon comes down and gets the saints up and going in a single preseason.

My thoughts:

Back in 2015 and 2016 when Bevo first took over, it was the culture that needed a change. Bev was perfect for that, a prime motivator, which I think got confused with him being a master tactician. His tactics are putrid, the reason we resurged in 15, and won the flag in 16 was the players were inspired. They were playing like mad men. Teams hated playing us, aggressive, in your face football. But as we all know from our own life experiences, you can only be so motivated for so long. Things wear off. So when Bevo has to resort to using genuine in-game tactics to keep us playing well, we drop. Since 2017 we have not played the same style of football anymore. We are boring, we sag back, there is no surge mentality. Beveridge has tried to reinvent the wheel with his tactics, which simply aren't good enough. So yes, Beveridge would be great if he went to another bottom club now. He could inspire them as the fresh voice and work some magic. But things will get stale there too. From our end, we need that fresh voice ourselves. Someone who will bring that inspired brand of footy back. I'm just not sure who that is going to be unfortunately.

Interested to see how we are all feeling about Bevo
ScragCity - as the OP, are you ok if I change the poll parameters to allow people to change their votes? It seems that quite a few wish to do this.
