Agree, but FFC was happy to work with them until Cockburn came along with some $$ and then they pretty much sold outCertainty, commitment and timing are critical factors in planning and decision making.
Freo council was tardy,a little conceited and foolish on all three.
So you are saying it's ok for the club to be sold out for some short term $$.As I said in big money deals it's essential you have a meticulous and pragmatic appreciation of market realities.
Who said anything about a Member's Social Club at Cockburn? It is a Training and Administration Centre as far as I know and if there was to be such a club for Docker's members I thought it would have been mentioned at the last AGM (which I attended) as one of the features of the new facility when they presented information about it but it wasn't mentioned.Things are apparently operating well, but I'll let you know for sure when they open the members' social club atFremantleCockburn.
I still sometimes wonder why the quality of membership trinkets is inversely proportional to the cost of the annual membership increases, but then I remember that I'm only a member and therefore of little consequence to the club.
Wich two ? The Steve's? Would love to know how you rate them (e.g. on what basis) as Claremont boys if that's who you are referring to.All true, but just such a massive lost opportunity........I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to accept that two Claremont boys have taken the Freo Footy club away from Freo.....I'll try, but I don't think I'll ever be able to accept it. I mean two blokes that are as Freo as bay view terrace have somehow taken our club from Freo....I just can't embrace it. It actually really burns me up...badly. I just love Freo so much and seeing our footy club taken away sucks big time
Rosich and Harris... they both come across as motivated but untrustworthy people. I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time.Wich two ? The Steve's? Would love to know how you rate them (e.g. on what basis) as Claremont boys if that's who you are referring to.
You forgot to mention your personal conversations with the steves to put more weight to your argument.
Total garbage. It you knew anything about the place, you'd know that Brad is doing plenty to take Freo forward. Right wing religious cronies?? Are u sure understand what right wing is? The city is really moving in the right direction, even tonight we have Laneway on. Maybe in the past the Freo council were against change, but now it is being embraced. Brad and co were doing everything possible to keep the club in Freo towards the end(yes not at the start), but the admin were seduced by the $$ and a greenfield site. The colours are the same as what I suggested and I repeat, the song process was a balls up.
But keep you blinkers on.....
I note you chose to ignore my point about the Harvey years, so your credit where it's due idea seems to be selective. The last 4 years success is due to having a better list, as I said, so I'll give the credit to our players and the coach.
The social club would be at the club of course. We're stuck with Cockburn, so it would be there. Somewhere I could drop in for a drink during and after the game without being ripped off like the unwashed masses who don't pay a membership.
I was being sarcastic. Of course there won't be any member facilities there, the club doesn't appreciate its members.Who said anything about a Member's Social Club at Cockburn? How can they be so yesterday when we've never had one?Oh Reg social clubs are so yesterday. Harvey years meh, what about them.

The Harvey years which everybody remembers with such fondness were during the Steves' reign of super management.

Where did you get the idea they were from Claremont ?Rosich and Harris... they both come across as motivated but untrustworthy people. I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time.
If they could come up with facilities at Freo Oval that could be comparable with the rest of the AFL they would have stayed at Freo Oval. But AFL football has outgrown Freo Oval. The site is too small. They sent the rehab group to East Freo oval this week. That is not unacceptable in a professional world. Two Ovals are needed. You just can't get that at Freo Oval.
It's not money or trying to piss off old supporters or a conspiracy because thr Steve's are evil bastards. It just because you cant get the training facilities a top level AFL club needs shoehorned into the Freo site.
Look at Hawthorn. They are packing up from Waverly because they've out grown that site into a super new facility in Dingley. A revamped Freo oval would be struggling to match Waverley.
Spiritually the decision sucks. Performance wise it's a no brainer.
Where the hell do you link the Steve's to Claremont from ?Rosich and Harris... they both come across as motivated but untrustworthy people. I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time.
Could not agree more with this post.
Thread has gone off on a tangent with the Freo v Cockburn council discussion and the evaluation of the potential evil-ness of the Steve's but the practical reality of the situation is that the move was unfortunately necessary to keep pace with the trendsetters of the competition.
Space + a greenfields site was ultimately always going to factor heavily in the decision. I assume there was a financial aspect to it too - but even without that the move was in the wings.
Cockburn was a no brainer. That southern corridor is growing like wild
It's some 52000 plus members that the club now has as advised at our last AGM. So that is a damn good result when stacked against some of the Victorian teams.I couldn't care less where the team trains tbh - having top line facilities is the most important criterion.
I'm grateful to the training watchers for their reports and I would guess that in all likelihood they'll still go to Cockburn or wherever the team trains.
Regarding the Steves, I give them a tick for sacking Harvey and getting Lyon, I'm happy enough with the colour change, the song business was a bit crappy.
As for how members are treated. I don't think it's too bad given there's close to 50,000 of us and AFL clubs are big business these days.
