I was really pleased with it - the chemistry between those on screen was exceptional... a timely reminder of how good the show has been in years gone by and how good the current story arcs are - and set to continue

There was a lot there fore genuine fans and even those that believe Doctor Who ended in 1989.... I just really enjoyed it - would love to have seen it in a cinema to enjoy the full experience and audience reactions.

Some very well kept secrets too which is hard to do in this day and age

Some more cameos would have been nice but I don't want to diminish they managed to accomplish

Watched most of the encore screening (missed the first 25 minutes through putting children to bed and losing the remote). Still stands up on the second viewing. I'm not a fan of Tennant's turn as the Doctor, but I thought that he held most of his mannerisms well in check and allowed Smith to take the limelight as the Doctor.

I presume there will be tie-in merchandise and books to flesh out the War Doctor's back story.

Opens up a whole new avenue for books, comics, short stories and maybe even audio if Hurt wants to. And a debate for the next fifty years as to whether that really makes Eccleston 10, Tennant 11, Smith 12 and Capaldi 13.

Loved it.

It confirmed one thing for me. Eccleston was my first. I think Matt Smith is brilliant. Seeing Tom Baker was amazing (he was incredible in the special today). And Troughton is my all time favourite.

But Tennant will forever my my Doctor. The one I look at and think "it's The Doctor".

Thought the homage paid to the very first episode, "An Unearthly Child", was brilliant - starting off in the same classroom, with exactly the same shot, albeit with Clara replacing Barbara. She then proceeded to meet up with the Doctor in the exact same junkyard where the TARDIS was parked 50 years ago.

They didn't meet in a junkyard ;)

But the first shot was of a constable walking past Totters Lane, exactly like An Unearthly Child. It was the same school, and if you noticed the chairman was a certain I Chesterton.

Tom Baker is my favourite Doctor of all time and of the two re-booted Doctors that have had more than one season, Matt Smith is my preferred, so to see them in a scene together was fantastic for me. I only wish the fourth Doctor had offered the 11th/12th Doctor a jelly baby.

I think Smith has come on so well. In his first season (5) I thought we were in trouble because as an actor he was blown away by Tennant (not a shameful thing, Tennant's amazing). But far out, he's become an outstanding actor.

Grew up loving Dr Who, 530pm every weekday on the ABC after school. Tom Baker my obvious favorite.

I have really enjoyed the new series and it is fun to watch. Agree that David Tennant a standout so far, but Matt Smith has really grown into the role.

The 50th special was brilliant. It was fun and gave me some moments which made me smile with delight towards the end. Im a fan of the direction it is taking with the Doctor going full circle and looking to go home.

Hopefully they explore some of John Hurt's incarnation, throughout the time war, a little through books, audio etc. That would be pretty cool.

Looking forward to its future and i hope it stays fun.

Loved when Matt Smith referred to them as Grandad and sandshoes.

As a family of Doctor Who tragic's my wife, myself and two boys 6 and 8 went along to see it in 3D at the movies. Boys dressed as Weeping Angels (complete with gray body paint and hair and angel wings). Following up from a Doctor Who party the Saturday. Yep geeks breeding geeks at my house. :p

Moffat's cleared things up regarding regeneration. Only by "cleared things up" I mean "not at all".

‘Paul McGann turns into John Hurt so they’re not the same incarnation,’ said Moff. ‘He used up another regeneration and I’ll expect he’ll be in trouble shortly – you can’t break rules laid down in The Deadly Assassin.’

So Tennant's aborted regeneration doesn't count, but McGann to Hurt does. So Capaldi is his 13th regeneration.

There was a line in the Day of the Doctor where the Time Lord general says that there were 13 Doctors there. This was just before we saw Capaldi's eyes.

I'm sure that the Master received a new set of regenerations so I'm also sure that Moffat has some explanation for it.

Maybe he'll get a new set of regenerations as reward for finding Gallifrey?

That's my theory as to why Peter Capaldi is there at Gallifrey. I reckon soon after he regenerates, he'll go back to the "scene of the crime", so to speak, in order to watch where Gallifrey went. He arrives too early and so participates in the process, and watches on further

Thought the show was a really enjoyable romp and was clearly made with a lot of love.

I was taken totally by surprise when I actually got a little emotional when Tom Baker appeared. It was a fantastic scene, great dialogue, really nicely done.

Was talking to a friend about it today, who agreed completely that for a lot of kids growing up at that time Tom Baker’s Doctor really was an iconic part of your childhood. He just summed up that time and place so perfectly.

I was the same during Tom Baker's scene. Combination of who it was, the music and his AMAZING performance.

Also this show is incredibly unfair.

When Tom Baker told The Doctor he can go find Gallifrey, The Doctor seemed so happy and excited about it. But then he dies next episode. CURSE YOU MOFFAT. STOP TROLLING MY EMOTIONS.
