70’s and 80’s were Doctor Who!This thread is in danger of being re-named 'Kram's wet dream monologue about the 80s'...
Johnny ‘castellan’ Spandrell?Johnny Spandrell's blogs are excellent - since leaving Twitter I'd forgotten how insightful he is. Thanks for the reminder!
End of next week? Mine arrived on Friday from Rarewaves
I wonder what the next one after s7 will be?
There will be 5 B&W seasons and 4 colour seasons left. I doubt they'll want to be left with a bunch of B&W seasons to end the run so my bet is it'll be a '60s set. I suspect s13 might be last due to it being generally regarded as peak Who.
Probably not s3 with the upcoming Savages release release and I'm sure they'd want to do Daleks' Master Plan as a standalone release before including it on a Collection set. So not that. War Games has been colourised and will be transmitted on Christmas Eve, no doubt that will also get a standalone release so no s6 for a while.
S4 or 5 are possibilities but my bet would be S1 -- only one missing story not already available as a full animation, and they could include last year's Daleks In Colour. I understand the rights issues with Unearthly Child don't affect physical media releases so that doesn't seem to be an impediment.
On physical media? Don't think anything's been announced. Just checked and The Daleks In Colour didn't come out here until early September, not sure if that's necessarily any guide.Speaking of War Games, when will that be available here?
Yeah I'm grabbing that for Christmas, curious to see how it is.On physical media? Don't think anything's been announced. Just checked and The Daleks In Colour didn't come out here until early September, not sure if that's necessarily any guide.
I liked it. As an alternative viewing option it's fine. Some of the production choices I wasn't super on board with but that's okYeah I'm grabbing that for Christmas, curious to see how it is.

Obviously a lot will come out, but if you cut it back to the bare bones of the main plot it should be possible, although I expect it will absolutely rollick along.Seems a bit odd to me how you can condense a ten part story into a 90 minute production (even with lost scenes put in, which I am very keen to see)

A correction here, it was actually Mark Ayres in the last one and this one. I thought it worked much better this time around, althoughWhat especially took me out of the last one was the inclusion of additional music cues from Murray Gold, which was a stark contrast to Tristram Cary's distinctive electronic musique concrete. I hope this will be less of a clash with Dudley Simpson's work on War Games.
