Anyway, it must be galling for a former 'contender' to be humbled by a team with nearly half of its best 22 out.

People love to criticise Lachie's delivery into 50 but he had a couple of direct goal assists from composed and clever entries last night.

Whats the bet he goes out and tries to intimidate the hawks again next week?
I understand that if you are slower than a wet week and couldn't kick the lid off a bin that you'd try to impose yourself physically but honestly, what are you trying to achieve?

Two stats to sum up the game.
1-only one Bulldog player had more than 22 disposals, such an even performance.
2- Webb had just as many clearances as Swallow and Cunnington COMBINED! Future looking better each week.

Well that wasn't a very good game - some woeful skills on display. But no-one can doubt the effort (from ALMOST everyone). Bevo really is a genius how he draws such a consistent effort from the team. We have only played soft footy one game this year (Geelong Part 1).

- I wouldn't say that Jong was a superstar. But he was still bloody impressive how relentlessly he went at it tonight. It was a full 4 qtr performance from him even though he was getting smashed up. I particularly like that his best games seem to always be against good opposition. He might be a reliable finals player. If he keeps this up we might even get a decent 2nd rounder for him!

Jong Talent Time shows every sign he will be a finals specialist. He has also shown this in the one senior final he has played and he completely dominated finals at reserve level. Teams will probably underestimate him in finals but his attributes have finals football written all over them. Plenty of Bush talk regarding Lin but this isn't Bush football and finals go up a notch. Wouldn't be surprised if Lin signs a new contract this week.

And to think that over on the norfs board there are people calling for 'Spud' to get "another" year in their autopsy thread! Thats the reality of how bare their cupboard truly is. Strangely nobody seem to be saying the same for Scott Thompson, Drew Petrie and numerous others.

Jong's two efforts to get on with the game after being smashed were character building. WD young man.

Perhaps my favourite moment last night came in the last quarter when Jong ran towards our goal and then stopped in front of Tarrant, setting a beautiful basketball pick so that Stringer could lead up and take an uncontested mark in front of the pack. The block on Tarrant was perfectly executed and perfectly timed. Stringer then fluffed the kick unfortunately.

That one small piece of team play showed that Jong is learning to do the 1%ers that really good players all do - it's been awhile coming, but Jong is becoming more than a player whose main attributes are effort and athleticism.

I loved that to,showed great footy smarts actually. This bucket that some people hold in such high regard wouldn't have been able to do that.
