Yes things could change dramatically, but there’s no logical reason to think they will given the exact same issues as last year we’re still there.

This is clearly the best bulldogs list I’ve seen, if the coach can’t get something significant out of them this year and having been there for 9 years what’s the point of continuing?

rory lobb is a woeful waste of money in our system - just like every sane person on this forum thought he'd be

If we're gonna play 4 tall forwards then we're gonna need small forwards who put on a ton of forwards pressure. This is how our smalls ranked for tackles last year:

Rhylee West : 3.8 tackles a game
McNeil : 3.4 tackles
Weightman : 1.9 tackles
Vandermeer : 1.8 tackles
Scott : 1.3 tackles
Hannan : 1.1 tackles

And guess which 2 Bevo picked...

Also I wanna give Baker a chance but the Dees have the best talent ID and coaching atm, so them delisting him is a bit of a red flag.

His pressure was supposed to make up for his poor disposal and decision making but 1 tackle for the game is just not good enough.

PS. Pickett and Chandler had more tackles between them than ALL our forwards combined (8 and 7 tackles each)
Harsh to be picking on Scott, at halftime I thought he was one of our best. You are right that we need another small, even if Weightman is unavailable

The bad:
-Lobby is a bust. Absolute waste of space
-English is not an A-grade ruck by a long shot
-Darcy is 3 seasons away (been saying this all pre-season)
Jamara playing like a millionaire

The good:
Naughton took a few good marks
-Bruce didn't look horrible down back
-Libba

p.s. I was at the game pretty sure Treloar did a slight high hammy in the last few mins

So any guesses what BS the coach will deliver in the presser?
Anything less than a mea culpa will show he has NFI.
And only one f*** up in a night of f*** ups, but Bont's miss killing any momentum was sadly the likely outcome. In free play, he's usually dynamite. Set shot, and the demons (pun intended) take over his body and mind.

Rory Lobb … horrific

P*** poor.

Seriously, this is the most embarrassed I've been supporting this club for a long long time.

No heart. No fight. No spirit. Nothing.

On Monday, I'll be ringing the club to take my name off the Bulldog for Life auto member renewal and hope others do the same.

Over this s***.

The club can friggen work for my hard earned, no more just handing over my money. Had enough of these soft, lily livered, yellow-bellied, gutless performances.

I wont be there next week and I won't be there for a fair while yet.

Reckon dees will dominate this year. Amazing fitness and system that covers their missing personnel.

Reckon we’ll be mid table again this year. Our talent and game plan will probably push us to finals but we won’t trouble the top teams.

Some of the skill errors tonight were shocking. Don’t think we’ll play that badly on the reg.

Fitness has been an issue for yonks. Dunks was right haha.

I usually dread the start of every season because I never know what s**t we will serve up. For some strange reason I went in optimistic this year and was psyched. How silly of me.

I know it's early etc etc but I think we are cooked this year.
We were dominated late in quarters and for the entire fourth quarter

What a let down for the fans.

After so much hype with a score to settle after the tripe dished up against Freo in the final to then dish that s**t up is nothing short of a joke. Bont said they were genuinely embarrassed after the final last year and to do this is mind blowing.

Heads have to roll
Start with the coach, he plays favorites too often, how was Rhylee West not in that side, Grundy used to knock up getting 3 votes against English, now it's Gawn.

Tough night. Looked right in it for long stretches. Hard to stomach conceding so many easy goals from centre square and D50 after it’s been such a known issue for so long. Melbourne are very good and if there is an upside then it’s that they really did not look better than us for long periods. They’re more efficient and that was a tough watch.

Even more depressing than Round One last year.

- Mitch Hannan. Seriously. Did he do literally anything?

- Coaching horrendous. Yeah, let’s bomb it long to the forward line where we’ve got Anthony Scott 1 out against their three tall defenders. Ingenious.

- Skill levels appalling. Bailey Smith Yet again a huge culprit.

- Goal kicking again a complete debacle. From senior players mostly too - Bont missed one during the one time during the game we were on top, and Naughton’s misses are just inexcusabl.

- Selection. Already mentioned Hannan. I suppose Beveridge has to have his quota of one battler per side. Johannisen was terrible too.

Only Round 1 and not writing us off completely but there are glaring issues from tonight.

Not happy.

Biggest one sided team in the league

No defensive minded players

All flair
Yep. Great when the game is on our terms and can beat up average sides but we fold against any momentum. Midfield is great on paper, all good individuals, but as a group it’s overrated and hasn’t functioned as well as it should for a while.
