ross has said that the next video tomorrow will be of a review from start to end

The review process would be nice but for me the main thing will be a bowling action. We've seen plenty of batting animations in the sneak peek but no bowling.

Start to finish DRS, meh...Im worried their hasnt been anything of note of bowling actions, and very limited batting animations. From what Ive seen, the batting looks pretty dodgy from that video they put out - if thats meant to be a snapshot of the best looking animations...

(in before fanboys argue that it was actually a video of the game being played on the easiest difficulty therefore thats why the shots looked unco - why would a developer trying to promote the game put out a video of the worst looking shots??? Ya clutching at straws...)
bowling action will probably be seen tomorrows video since its from the beginning to end. would that be correct BigAntStudios?

Well it was actually filmed at the easiest difficulty so there's no argument about whether or not that's the case. It does seem odd that they showed it like that though. The forward defence the shot after shows the bat coming down nice and smoothly.

The off drive looks sweet though, you have to admit. The pull shot is quite nice too. The smash over long on is a bit awkward.

The "fly swatting" over point looks great in my opinion but only if that's a somewhat unorthodox shot. It looks like he's stepped down the pitch and then the bowler has banged it in short so he then hit it over point. That's something Matthew Hayden would do. I don't want all cut shots to be like this though.

There is also a very nice looking sweep shot and the picture of the Don in his classic stance looks almost identical to the photo.

You also have to realise Miqar that Ashes delayed its game basically so it could bring it closer to Bradman 14. Their CEO even posted on Facebook that Ashes not has "all of the Bradman features plus much more". This has led Big Ant to not release as much information as they previously would have because they don't want it stolen.

They're hammering the DRS point though because it's been such a big talking point in world cricket and it's confirmed that Ashes only has hawkeye, no hot spot or snicko.

Can I assume the umpires will be correct on the field 92% of the time, like the ICC claim they are? Would be awesome if (for example) 8% of the on-field decisions are programmed to be incorrect, putting the emphasis on the player to use DRS effectively. If it's anything like the challenge system in Madden, this will be great!

Except in matches involving India, of course.

The umpires are programmed to make wrong decisions. What would be the point in DRS if they got it right all of the time?

The 3rd umpire will always be correct though. I don't know what will happen with any "not sufficient evidence to overturn". I think that for nicks etc it will be cut and dry from the third umpire, although the hot spot mark will change depending on the size of the nick but I think there will always be at least something there for all nicks.

Not sure if they'll have the LBW margins in that change depending on the on field umpire. That's my most hated aspect of DRS.

They've also mentioned snick, dubbed "Big Ears:, but Im not sure if that will be part of the DRS since it isn't in real life.

And yes, you can turn off the DRS. The umpires will make the same incorrect decisions but there is just no referral system to fix them.

So now that I have some time to speak after a whirlwind 2 days, I have a confession to make.

On Wednesday I started a new job at BigAnt Studio's as a Quality Assurance tester, meaning that yes, I have had hands on time with Don Bradman Cricket 14.

Because it's not my place to talk in-depth about the game and it's features, I won't say too much now.

But, from my time with the game (all up around 6-7 hours so far over 2 days), I will just say that fears of the quality of the game due to what hasn't been shown are certainly not warranted.

Animations are a lot smoother than any cricket game before, there's plenty of variety and even more to like.

I've seen bits and pieces of the trailer that will be released tomorrow and it's safe to say you will like it, even if it is just a look at the BARS. ;)

Also I am yet to see cheerleaders, so that guy from FB that was worried can buy without fear of being sent to hell.

I got a good deal of hands on time with the Academy today (my first real in-depth look at every single feature) and this is saying it from an outsiders point of view, that thing is one of the most in-depth and incredible customisation modes I've ever seen.

Here ya go:

Not entirely overwhelmed by the bowling action - he almost tries to stop just before delivering the ball...mehh just being picky, it looks awesome

It does look good. I'd like to see different bowling actions accounted for, like how Thisara Perera charges in like a Steam train and almost pulls up on the spot, and Mitch Starc's robotic run-in. Perhaps asking too much but I'd love to see it.

That slip fielder could've run him out actually, way out of his crease.
Has been clarified on Planet Cricket that the situations were forced so that didn't happen. Full game won't have any issue with that.
Probably a dumb question but I'm assuming there's commentary in the actual game
Would make the 'commentary names' in Cricket Academy unusual if there wasn't. :p
HBK, are there different bowling actions (like sig shots on NBA2K). I know they can't be bound up with actual players cos there are no actual players, but will there be a choice of a few bowling actions?
Honestly, I'm not sure what I can talk about with bowlers and their actions, I will seek Ross' clarification on Monday (unless he wants to mention here).

If people are worried about how the animations will make the game feel though, I will say that you shouldn't be worried. In terms of the action slow down, remember that point is when you're making your bowling decision, so there has to be some form of leeway given in the animations.
