Some diabolical bugs in this vid. Really worried now:
- Commentary is bizarre. From this little snippet, some of the s*it that was said...
- The dude was playing the career mode as a bowler, yet never got picked to bowl!
- Full crowd for a one day domestic match
- The team captain is always the wicketkeeper
- All games at the SCG
- Massive screw up by the keeper missing a simple run-out
- Obvious edge to the keeper not given out
- Keeper takes the ball by standing still and sticking a glove out
- Player motion looks unco

I know for a fact that the Victorian captain in the game is the wicket keeper, I am looking at it right now. If that is different in the video then someone changed it, as is the nature of the customisability with the game, it could've very well been edited.
I don't quite know what you're getting at here, but I said you WILL bowl, you just won't get a huge chance as a newbie 16yo. It's a gradual build up. Attempting to glean how an entire career works based off 2 matches is just silly.

Thought you started a career out in the second XI or something, rather than state straight away?

It might just be because the last cricket game I played (that wasn't a management sim) was International Cricket 2010, but this looks excellent to me for a game by an Aussie developer. Career mode looks like it'll be an amazingly good timewaster. I realise the animations are pretty stiff and the sound is poor but I also recognise it's an earlier build and those things can easily improve. Apart from that I'm really liking the look of it.

Graphically it's pretty impressive from an aesthetic standpoint, the ground and player models look good. Some of the animations are a little awkward like I said but plenty of others (especially the stock leg-break, a bit loose but I've seen blokes bowl like that before) look good and realistic.

Hope it plays well...but if I platinumed IC2010 which is a pretty horrid slog of a game and this is even twice as good then it'll be well worth the money.

I'm sure this has been asked, but I had a skim and couldn't find an answer - what are the commentators names?

And a bit more of a nuffie question, can the cricket academy be used to start editing fake player names out for Shield teams etc or will we have to wait for the retail for that? (I'm buying on PS3 so I'd have to redo it anyways, but I wouldn't mind playing around).

Commentators are David Basheer and Matthew Hill.

Yep, that is exactly what the Academy is used for. The on disc teams are cleverly set up so that they each replicate a real life player. That means that you just create the player and then you link them to that particular fake player. Or if you don't want to do that manually you can simply go "get best teams" which will replace the default teams with the best ones from the Academy. There are already some really good fully linked state teams. Sorry if that explanation is as clear as mud :p

I highly recommend downloading the Academy just to have a play around. Or just to look at all the creations already up :)

So is there a limit to how many teams we can download, for example does adding teams into the game just replace a team or create a new one?

You can do either.

Seen the video and it looks like a game I am willing to buy. The detail and effort BigAnt has put in is amazing.

I really, really hope they have taken a leaf out of Shane Warne 99 cricket's book with the different amount of stadiums and crowd effects. I remember that SW99 kept control on the would be size of the crowd, from what I remember. The crowd in Melbourne was much louder than the crowd in Hobart.

One thing that has annoyed me with EA cricket games was there was 90,000 people for a Victoria Vs Queensland 4 day game. It just screamed laziness.

Only complaint I had with the footage was the commentary. It just didn't feel natural and seemed like they were just reading.

But, the game looks fantastic so far. Well done, will be a great buy.

I cannot get CA to work. It crashes at the "Setting up default profile data" screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Me too... dont know what i did. I had earlier versions running, created heaps of old school players/teams. Then with the update it started crashing at the same point as yours. I tried uninstalling and deleting all CA files/saves etc.. tried downloading the complete 99.c or whatever the current one is...same problem.
looks like ill have to wait till the game comes out

I've never had any other versions loaded - that's what confused me

I'll get HBK to PM those here with issues with CA and get him to try to work it through with you.

What the guy said is entirely accurate though, so I don't see why you're criticising him for it. It's not his fault that a dodgy old build was displayed. All he can do is comment on what he is shown, and this is a world premiere afterall, not some footage sneakily. taken from behind the drink machine in the BA studios. He saw glaring bugs, as did all of us, and rightfully was worried by them.

It also depends a bit on how old the build was. If it was a month old then okay, they should have been fixed by now. If it was just last week then I'd be a tad worried by the amount of work needed. I have faith in the guys to put out a good game but some of the videos did lower my expectations a bit.

There were two machines with current builds of the game, the third machine with the older build (only there to access PSN) was the one recorded because it had the least people around it. There are plenty of good videos to view made from the correct builds, if this were not the case then people would have a reason for concern, it is not.

No.
