With all the murmurs around Rankine being a flight risk, GC of all clubs would be silly to take him wouldn’t you think.

Gold Coast would be the worst possible fit for Rankine. With Culture/Lifestyle issues their proven inability to retain players and the possibility Rankine needs to be in the right environment from day one along with the obvious flight risk. Nah it's not like there is a shortage of outstanding choices over Rankine.

Am I the only one who hopes we get one of the Kings?

We are still so desperately light on for key position prospects. We basically have all our eggs in with Marshall up forward and Howard down back. Our key position depth charts are horrendous.

While we absolutely need some outside class, our poor list management of talls means they have to be our absolute priority for the next few drafts. Otherwise we'll just have to keep overpaying for mature talls through trades or free agency.

Grand final a battle between teams with multiple rucks and tall forwards. Port will no doubt recruit a bunch of smalls. Ken Oath indeed. :(

Sure

Go hard for talls in the draft when it’s smart to do so.

Drafting a 202cm project guy who will take years to get on the park and whose twin brother will be playing in their hometown of melb is not smart to do so.

Yeah. Lukosius and Rozee to GC makes more sense. Both best mates apparently.

Although if May walks out along with Lynch, I could still see them taking both of the King brothers as has been suggested elsewhere. It is a reach but it's a better result than losing a Rankine type in two years' time.

I don't see how we can. Would love either but we wont do the deal that gets the pick.

I'm not keen on us upgrading picks because I'm not confident that Luko and Rankine will be available and there is a chance that Rozee & Hateley could be available at 9 & 10 anyway. We need to take as many talented players out of this draft.

The introduction of live trading of selections during the draft should somewhat negate this concern.

Id wager that the real movement in terms of first round of selections will most likely happen on draft night.

The clubs that are trading up will be wanting to see who is available at what pick, while the clubs that are holding the picks will want to generate a bidding war to get overs.

Its that last bit that makes me think that if we could find a way to get hold of a top end pick during the trade period then it would likely come cheaper than if we were to buy it on the night.

Either way our aim should be to bank some serious currency during the player exchange period.

McClure said the word is Luko and Rankine will go to GC at 2 and 3 which I think would be smart by them. If that’s the case I wouldn’t be trying to upgrade our picks and go to the draft with 9&10.

Agree with you 100%. I have no doubt our recruiters/list manager would have an idea closer to the time to make this decision. Also live trading could make it interesting.

I would only accept trading up into the early part of the draft for Luko and/or rankine. I think Rozee will be good but i would prefer to pick best players available at picks 9 and 10, then address future needs with our 2nd rounders.

The King twins stating publicly they would prefer to be traded to the same club, any club who chooses just one of them could be concerned with flight risk.

Hardly an outlandish statement though, twin brothers wanting to go to the same club... Who'd of thought !

Certainly good reason for the suns to grab them at 2 and 3. Not necessarily bot top 3 worthy but does go along way to address player retention which is clearly a big problem for them.

These are the players still uncontracted for 2019...

Jack Trengove
Jake Neade
Trent McKenzie

Cameron Hewett
Peter Ladhams
Will Snelling

Could see all 6 being delisted. Maybe keep Trengove. Would make a great sanfl captain if he’s delisted. That would mean those 6 plus toump, irra, Thomas, polec gone and potentially hombsch and Amon. 12 players is another huge turnover.
