I can’t imagine Drew or AJ being delisted unless medical review suggests their bodies aren’t up to it.

Trengove and Thomas should get another year.

Toumpas, McKenzie, Neade, Amon, Snelling, Hewitt, Lienert - all on the line. Frampton and Ladhams - questionable.
Broadbent and Pittard - who knows. That’s 4 list spots and 3 rookie spots without huge contention. Considering the high turn over of recent years, we may only move on 6 or so players (about standard).

I would hold onto 21 like my life depended on it unless we traded that pick up

The dogs could find a pick via free agency for Dahlhaus. There was talk about libba going elsewhere but with his recent history I don’t think it’s happening or not for a good pick.

Upgrade the St Kilda 2nd rounder for Bulldogs 1st next season ??

With the Rhylee West situation the Bulldogs are more likely to want to hold onto all of their picks as they stand. Trading our 21 or 32 for a player could allow them to use pick 5 for one of the top players in the draft and use the later picks for their F/S pick.

This in general this draft. The obligatory gun nominates us and won't go anywhere else aside, the state of our list is such that Constanza would be crazy to trade in a player for a pick downgrade.

The turn over of players this year will be interesting. having such a large turn over last few years i cant see us cutting as deep. Especially with the way players are currently contracted etc...
Is the rookie list gone for sure this year? what is the list number then?

Frampton being contracted for next year probably means he’ll be retained, possibly on the rookie list, which spells trouble for Ladhams.

I see our ruck division looking like this next year:
Ryder
Roughead (or other mature backup)
Hayes
Frampton (rookie)

Bailey Williams, ruck/forward, sliding to our picks would be a dream too.

Gee looking at current indicative draft order our neighbours have 2 picks before our first rounder and then another pick before our second rounder.
Shame about all that SA talent.

A fair bit of that sa talent is going to land elsewhere. There are plenty of teams with picks around where they are meant to go who will be interested

They’ll be lucky to land one of those prime sa players.

Port doesn't have trouble retaining players so i don't really care about the SA factor. Sa factor only comes into play for late / rookie picks. There doesn't look like being a lot of SA talent rated at late teens / early twenties this year. There's a few standouts earlier and lots of draft able kids later. If Crows want to reach for local kids high in the draft, good luck to them. As long as we get some good talent i will be happy.

Current picks: 14, 21, 32, 47 & 50.

Would need 5 delistings though.
Use 3 draft selections and 1 upgrade in Houston. Would be happy to try and turn 32, 47 and 2019 First Rounder into another pick before 25. Using 14, 21 and *25.

Think outgoings may be;
Toumpus
Broadbent
*Trading Amon
*Trading Neade
**If can’t trade out Amon or Neade, Drew to be ReRookied
**If can’t trade out Amon or Neade, Cutting McKenzie
————
Snelling - Love him but 3 years in the Rookie
Hewett - As above, Mr Versatile, too long on the rookie lost without coming on.
————
Holding Lienert, Irra, Ladhams - Just, Thomas.

But the Dogs have an interesting hand of choices for this year's NAB AFL Draft given the emergence of father-son prospect Rhylee West as a possible first-round choice. As seen in AFL.com.au's indicative draft order, the Dogs hold pick No.5 this season, putting them in a strong position to grab one of the highly-rated prospects at the top end of the draft. However, after that the Bulldogs' next pick is in the third round (currently No.41) and with a bid expected to come for West, the son of club great Scott, inside the first 25 picks it means the club would need to secure another pick in the second round during the trade period or risk going into a draft points deficit under the father-son and academy bidding system.

Would the Dogs have any player who we would want to trade for? We have 21, and I can't see that getting better or worse. Or does Ken want to hold onto that pick due to the expected depth of the draft. Even if he does, we could still trade with 32 as the points from 32+41 or even 32+59+60 would allow the Dogs to get a pick in the first round after f/s discount was applied.

If I was the bullies I would just accept that I would be going into deficit for West and Khamis

Would love the club to target a fast paced mid with exquisite skills to compliment Wines & SPP.

For all those well educated on this years draft crop, who might meet that criteria?

Butters from Vic Metro is one to watch.
Kennerley from SA with one of the later ones, but he is not what I would call quick but he is very good at the outside stuff.

yeah I think this draft we go for quick outside or elite by foot.

I would want to be careful about going into a draft where everybody says so-and-so is the must-have player. Tom Boyd(2013), Paddy McCartin(2014) and Jacob Weitering(2015) were touted before the draft as the next big thing none has been exceptional. They have played a few good games but have performed well below what you would hope for from a number one pick. Selections from the draft should be made for your teams needs, not simply because others say player x is the best.

Yeah nah

Issues were definitely raised about Boyd and McCartin. They were not seen as special talents, and they had identified risks.

Also need to differentiate when someone is viewed as consensus number one because they are exceptional ie number 1 any year and when there is a lack of challengers for the spot.

It’s easy to point out now that Boyd isn’t a superstar, if you didn’t watch or listen closely to what people were saying about him at the time and only had a superficial understanding.

Lukosius is not the same as the others. I’ve watched him, I’ve listened closely to what others (who have watched him closely) say.

There is also another element at play.

Development.

Any chance we use St Kilda’s 2nd rounder + Norfs 3rd rounder in a deal to upgrade our first somewhere into the top 10?

Freo might be a candidate... Their first pick is likely to be around the 7-9 mark and at this stage they dont pick again until 5th round.

Out: Picks 14, 21 and 47
In: Pick 7

If Freo finishes behind the mob down the road it could mean we get to pick before them.

Yeah lets get the pick in front of the crows so they don't select Galluci over Marshall and SPP

Cal Twomey's first round mock draft

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/06/25/twomeys-first-round-afl-mock-draft/

He has Port picking Jye Caldwell

Butters from Vic Metro is one to watch.
Kennerley from SA with one of the later ones, but he is not what I would call quick but he is very good at the outside stuff.

yeah I think this draft we go for quick outside or elite by foot.

would be stoked with butters in the second round

Curtis Taylor, nice looking overhead mark. I haven’t seen enough to see if he has other tricks but overhead marking is the only thing that’s stood out to me so far

Wish we got to see more of Caldwell in champs. Little i saw before he went down I liked though. Lots of intent and work to be at contests.

Butters I haven’t watched for in champs. In video I notice his vision stands out. I think it’s very good and seems a sharp lateral mover even if he isn’t fast fast he has enough sideways movement to get him out of trouble. I prefer if he was taller but if he is a 178cm gut runner to space his size can be dealt with.

Collier-Dawkins is a mystery to me even after seeing him. Could be great could be lacking in agility and sideways movement to play midfield. Looks worth that risk though.

A few people here know how keen on kennerly I am. Perfect for our side.
