Eh. Sure in our first team. Our reserves, which is an indicator of what’s coming through was manned by short people this year with Trengove and atley the biggest. Drew is tall but injured and pretty far away. Farrell and Patmore are small or average.

Also depends on what you view as a flanker. We have a fair few defenders but very few capable forward flankers if anyone at all. Maybe Farrell if you view him as such. No monfries Tom lynch types available.

If Atley can’t get a game then we are fine in that department. It’s not a huge priority unless he asks to be traded. Would replace Hewett and Snelling with a mid with our 3rd pick after we get some quality outside speed with our 1st and a long term development KPD with our 2nd.

As for the forward and back flankers I’d like for Farrell, Johnson, Barry, Irra, Patmore and maybe Broadbent, Lienert and McKenzie to stick around. Not 100% on Broadbent yet though.

Neade, Amon and Toumpas I think are expendable.

We definitely need an injection of mids into that reserves group. Atley is nowhere near enough when boak and grays replacements need to be drafted now not in 2-3 years when they are gone or near enough to it. Ebert and Rockliffs replacement also. Consider that you have to cycle through mids as you draft 5 and 2 if your lucky work out. If we want 4 mids in the next 3 years we will need 10-15 guys to find em.

We can make a big dent this year though

Caldwell / Collier-Dawkins

Valente / butters

Kennerly / butters

Grab any 3 of those guys with our first 3 picks then pudney after and we go some way towards stocking the reserves with another generation of possible replacements.

Riley Grundy at 195cm would be in Ports sights as a tall back i would think

I hope so. I want a young defender. He should be a late late pick, he doesn’t intercept or rebound from what I’ve seen in champs. I’m unsure if he does that elsewhere? But afl teams trend is for rebounders. So hopefully he slides. Always a place for quick mobile shutdown talls

Grundy has only played AFL for a couple of years - our last pick should do it

I was so focused on the later picks last year I could barely name any of the top 10.

I had to look up who went pick 1.

I’d like us to look at Shane McAdam with our third pick if he’s still there. He’s got a serious leap (rivalled Nic Nat at the combine) combined with pace, great pressure and an eye for goal. In a role that’s seen Neade scramble together 50 games, I think it’s a position we need options for.

if we have a pick in the early 30s I'd pick up O'reilly from WA. seen him twice live and a lot to like. can play chb/chf/ruck

only listed at 195 but seems at least an inch taller

Wouldn’t mind getting him either as I want talls. Non dominant talls draft range are completely wild though. Could go anywhere so I hope we add some quality mids with those early picks and see what talls ie Grundy O’Reilly Munn Bowman Koschitzke etc last until late draft and grab a slider.

Lacks explosiveness would be the term
but saying that creates an image of someone not running quickly to begin with. what fredericks isn't doing. he just can't hit the Nos button on the PlayStation and jet off, he can get up to 4th gear fine imo
