ummm but i actually did run a 16.1. when i say i'm not an athlete i mean i do not do athletics but yeh, thats what i got...more than happy for someone to invite me to the draft camp..but these guys should be getting mid 16's i would have thought. i was getting to stage 13 when i was in year 9.

These guys are also doing several other tests (20m sprint, repeat sprint, vertical leap etc.) within in the same 24-36hr time frame and a lot in the same day, subject to the mental drainage/pressure of the whole proceedings, interviews etc. as well as coming off a full season of football, so not exactly optimal conditions for performing at their 100% best.

Yeh thats physics but at the end of the day it is the pure leap height that is measured not the total jump....otherwise it wouldnt be a fair test on a shorter player....common sense.

exactly - you're adding nothing different to the discussion so move along - nobody has said the test isnt just the jump being measured... the discussion has been about what it means for real world reach in a game - which is what is important in interpreting the results... geez catch up

So Naitanui is just a 4cm taller version of Jared Brennan without a footy background?

Good luck to whoever grabs him.

Took 5 years for us to see what Brennan is capable of consistently, and he had played a hell of alot more football than Naitanui when drafted.

Will probably be a star, don't get me wrong... but whoever grabs him will be waiting a while to reap the reward. Getting stuck in a revolving door would show his awareness is ordinary too. ;)

so...its football not a height jumping contest

even with nat only getting 78cm
due to his height he can outreach anyone -.- find some1 who can mark a ball 275cm in the air :)

imagine if nat was only 85kg like watts
would of blitz the 20m sprints

Has anyone else noticed that since WC fans have realised there more likely to take Naitanui than Rich they've stopped talking up Rich and started defending Naitanui?....:p

My point was in reply to the guy I quoted - who suggested height doesnt matter when considering the vert jump results, which as you just agreed it quite obviously does :)

well it doesnt a 5 foot guy could have the same vertical leap as an 8 foot player.

Brazen you have no idea what a vertical leap is, it doesnt change depending on the players height.

A player that have the same vertical leap but ones is taller than the other, of course the taller player will reach higher for the mark.

I think some of you need to stop doing the 15metre beep test and do the real 20 metre beep test. you wouldnt get anywhere near 16 if you hadnt done any traing for anything. 13.8 is also very hard to get 50% of the players wouldnt get that in the draft today. You could be really fit though.

C.Judd cant get 16.1 or he struggles usually getting high 15's. You can beat GOD!!

Please STFU. You've repeated it enough times and it isn't a particularly interesting topic.

Can anyone confirm Hurley's time?

Agreed.

Not yet, and I doubt it will be sub-3.

Last year Cale Morton got the best beep and he ran a 15.5 i think.
If you ran a 16.1 without doing any aths training i would suggest you weren't doing it full length.

id have gladly stfu ages ago if people could get simple comprehension - come in three pages later and join the debate without reading the first posts... here was my first comment on it on page 14 - where its clearly the same interpretation of the jump measurement dunn comes in and tries to argue 3 pages later:

i think people are also forgetting his height... vertical leap is foot clearance to the ground (tap height minus how high they can reach on the ground)... so NicNat is 4cm taller than Brennan was - so he has actually outREACHED him by 4cm... which is what is important as its that which marks the footy - not your feet. WIth a couple cm maybe growth left in him - it means you'll have someone who hands reach the ball a good 10 or so cm before anyone else

nuff said - school holidays obviously - moving on

No, I read it. You just keep repeating yourself.

Well the one and only report said it was under 3 seconds. That's what I am hoping is true.....

I'm hoping like hell as well. I just doubt it'll be true.

Warwick, that is the greatest shut-down line ever posted anywhere.:D

Fellas -- pretty boring topic for all reading at the moment - time to let it go-- please:)

does anyone know the height and weight of T.Scully??

Could S.Hill go top 10 after the draft camp. record in the agility and has the 3rd fast 20m sprint plus he would do very well in the 3km,vertical leap and beep test.

He is clearly the the best athletic wise in the whole draft this year

On the field he is rag doll like and lacks composure and often slow decision making, gives the impression he could really hurt the opposition but I'm yet to see him really do it.

not top 10 for mine (or top 30 for that matter) - I see him as a good defensive player though, great athlete.

There have been plenty of guys who have absolutely killed it at draft camp and still go very late in the draft.
