Not what was said.

Sidebottom doesn't have breakaway speed, he does kick crap loads of goals and is a freakish finisher.
So you agree that players can be very damaging with great skills and decision making and an ability to hurt teams forward of centre?

I don't see why Gaff couldn't fit those criteria.

Why has everyone forgotten about Heppell? Better prospect than Gaff IMO.

The difference between 2.88 and 2.99 is nothing.

It comes down to need for me.

Heppell lacks agility not pace and is a half backmen more than a midfielder at this stage.

Gaff's short kicking is superior and we lack a quality outside midfielder who will generate space. Houlihan and Rosa work hard but can't kick to save themselves, Gaffs a smarter footballer than both of them as well and will get real whorish numbers.

Id love one of Smith or Caddy but we have no need.

Plus Gaff comes with an automatic nickname - Dilli. I don't think you can discount the value of that.

In all seriousness both Gaff and Heppell sound like they'd be quality additions. Polec maybe slightly less so, though he does sound like the sort of player we're missing.

Yeah. If he's got the right players around him feeding him the ball and presenting up the ground and if he does the team things as far as zoning, tackling and defending then yes.

He's doen't look like he's the player thats going to take a game by the balls and win a game. You knows he's effective when he doesn't get the glory because he set up and stayed involved in goal scoring oppotunites. His games are going to be measurable by effective kicks, marks, hand ball receives and tackles. None of thats fashionable.

After thinking about it for i while i actually want Gaff at 4, He just fits into what we are missing. We need a really hypo outside midfielder and if Bennell was around at 4 id pick him, however we also need a quality outside midfielder and Gaffs stands out.

Patronij1 is correct. We also need an 80m player.

Pendelbury and Simon Black are 2 Norm Smith medallists.

Niether is super quick - but are always in clever mode .

Gaff I am tellin ya is in the same clever mode.

If we get him we are going to be set up for the very near future nicely.

He's pretty similiar to black but wins less hard ball. Is probably more similar to pendlbury.
Its Gaff by a whisker for me atm over heppell then polec.

Polec fills out biggest need i reckon but his skills probably are just not quite good enough.

I am now starting to think we should get DARLING.
Put him in the centre square to knock everyone over

Lol. I'm no Ebert hater but part of me wishes we gave him to Port for 16 so we could get Darling. Ebert for Darling would be tempting.

As for pick 4, leaning toward Gaff, though was on the Heppell train up until a few days ago. We do have potentially damaging mids I believe, they just can't get on the park/suck right now/lack support/too young.

In any case, I hope Andreoli lasts until the early/mid 30's (for our third pick).

Sounds like a job for Priddis :)

Cripps then Fasolo.

Depends who's available at that stage, but I'd think we'd look at both for our second rounder, Cripps probably for our priority selection too.

Not a huge fan of Andreoli or Newton - better prospects should be available at our second rounder - I wouldn't be surprised if they're both still around in the rookie draft.

I would want Cripps then Andreoli, but I'd be surprised if WC didn't have other player not on the 'BF radar' that they'd be keen on for those picks anyway.

I would like Cripps and Fasolo. Haven't seen much of Andreoli. I think they will take a tall KPF with one of the picks. Maybe one of Lucas Cook, Luke Mitchell or even Anton Hamp? So it would be Cripps and a tall.

Personally i think it may well all be defined by who we take with our first pick. For example if we take polec with our first pick we'll take newton with our second or third.

If we take gaff with our first then we'll take cripps with our second or third.

I think we'll be looking for an outside distributor, a fast run and carry player and a KPF. The first will come down to best available on whoever the club thinks that is and it will define our second and third picks.

The 2010 NAB AFL All-Australian team is as follows:
Defenders:
Ben Jacobs (VM), Matt Watson(VM), Dyson Heppell (VC), Shaun Atley (VC), Patrick McCarthy (SA), Brodie Smith (SA)
Midfield: Jared Polec (SA), Daniel Gorringe (SA), Andrew Gaff (VM), Mitch Hallahan (VC), Anthony Miles (NSW/ACT), Tom Liberatore (VM)
Forwards: Harley Bennell (WA), Lucas Cook (VC), Adam Treloar (VC), Jayden Pitt (VC), Steven May (NT), Josh Caddy (VM)
Interchange: Sam Day (SA), Josh Bruce (NSW/ACT), Josh Green (Tas), Sam Darley (TAS)

any three of these would be great

After much consideration my vote for pick 4 is Gaff. I think he is a midfield organiser, co-ordinator type of player, possibly our most pressing need. I think Shuey also has some of these qualities but it doesn't hurt to have more than one. I think Shuey is more of a burst player than Gaff who is an endurance type who just keeps going, Gaff looks like a very smart player too. So I think/hope it will be Gaff and Cripps (if avail). I think the 3rd will be a KPF although I would like a small goal kicking midfielder such as Green or a fast wingman like Andreoli and I like Fasolo who I think will be a good player wherever he ends up.

I really like andreoli and fasolo i just feel that cripps is more of a west coast eagles pick. Whether thats for good or bad who knows. Really hope we take mitchell as a KPF with one of our second rounders. Really like his height and the way he marks the ball.

Although by some opinions it may be a bit of a reach he is the standout FF in the draft for my mind. Players like cook, solly, lynch and darling are more CHF's or utilities to my mind and if we actually want a quality FF we need to draft a FF. Really you only have to look as far as wilson. Although he doesn't have the greatest agility and allround talent he reads the play and plays the man like a FF.

I personally think one of the biggest tragedies of today's game is Brian lake. I think he could of been the best full forward of this generation with his great marking ability and how well he reads the play.

What are the key differences between Gaff as a junior and Masten as a junior?

Masten was the inside mid dishing it out to palmer etc
Gaff is mainly the guy recieving the ball and setting up play going forward, gets into space to recieve the ball

Conca’s West Australian teammate Ben Newton had less opportunity to shine during the carnival because he had his appendix removed on the eve of the first round.

The stylish left-footer made an impression off half-back in the final two games, but scouts are more likely to note his performances with South Fremantle and at the draft Combine.

He’s a genuine 80-metre player,” Wira said. “He carries the ball for 20 metres and kicks it 60.”
Interesting haven't found too much on him, but i nkow he was an AIS player
