He's talented - You guys should pick him up for sure.

Apparently he was homesick from the moment he came to Collingwood, but he might be a diamond in the rough for you guys.

If it's true that we were prepared to take him at 20 in the '08 draft had Swift been gone, then you'd think we would be certainties to pick him up.

Edit - wait, surely if that was true we'd have taken him at 36? Or am I mistaken, he was still around at 36 wasn't he?

We'll probably pick Blight up in the PSD.

Is it me or does Blight's movements/gait remind you of a giraffe?

We can't have both a giraffe AND a llama when we already have a ranga.

Especially considering neither of them eat spuds. Sometimes it seems we have little else. Maybe thats why swifty went backwards this year. The poor prick is hungry because all we've had to feed him with is god damned potatoes and all he gets to play with is tennis balls!

As ive officially gone insane ive been perusing around on facebook looking at draftees profiles so i can harshly judge them.

What ive learnt is. Its amazing how many draftees need to clean up their profiles.

Cripps seems to be a bit of a drunk/hooligan.
Darling Eats raw fish/does seem maybe slightly arrogant

And Gaff is a saint. Literally. Or he has deleted any possibly incriminating thing he's ever done, commented on for the last two years on facebook. I went back 2 years until when he joined facebook looking for some dirt on him and literally he never even swore once. The worst word he said is gay and shat. All he seems to talk about is football.
So either he is
A) a saint
B) Smart enough to go back two years making his facebook profile flawless
C) committed enough to getting drafted to go back two years and make his profile flawless.

Any of which im happy with. I reckon we will have gotten a good idea of this in the interviews and therefore will be taking Gaff at 4.

And yes i realise the spoon has made me officially wacko.

Lolz. Some serious dedication there Patron.
In all honesty, most young footballers come across as arrogant and a lot are plain out toolish. But you can't pass up on them for that unless they're actually getting up to serious mischief.

It said in an article on the HS/The Age that we were unlikely to participate in the PSD, which would be interesting. I think it was the Houli article.

Phantom Draft Thread.

This is the actual order of the draft after the trade week.

1- Suns- David Swallow- Done Already- Midfielder
2- Suns- Harley Bennell- Done Already- HFF/Midfielder
3- Suns- Sam Day- Done Already- Ruckman/Forward
4- WCE- Jack Darling- Key Forward, WCE lack that bully in the forward line and even thou Shaun Atley, Gaff and Heppell have been high on WCE radar I believe with the amount of mids we have, Jack will be too important for them to pass up.
5- Lions- Andrew Gaff- Midfielder, They wanted a top 5 pick to secure his or Polecs services and he will help with their lack of speed.
6- Rich- Jared Polec-Wingman- Tigers have recruited well in the last 2 drafts but they still need speed with Tambling going to Adelaide Polec seems the perfect fit.
7- Suns- Josh Caddy- GC have been watching him intently at the Combine and are certain to pick him up, I believe they will use this pick as he might be gone by 9 as Ess were interseted as well.
8- Ess- Dyson Heppell- A midfielder with average pace but good skills, he will compliment the midfield that is already established at essendon
9- Suns- Daniel Gorringe: Is an intelligent ruckman who's still growing and is the type of player you can build a team around and will be suited at GC given he will have time to develope.
10-Suns-Tom Lynch: Is a key forward who takes strong marks, is Nick Riewoldt-like in his endurance and has really leapt up the rankings since mid-season, Has GC written all over him.
11-Suns- Shaun Atley: Is a speedy midfielder who would help solve the pace problems. He has a great attitude and a Michael Voss-like determination.
12-Dees- Kieran Harper: Is a richly-talented forward who runs to the beat of his own drum. His brilliance would complement the Demons’ hard-working young midfielders
13-Suns- Ben Jacobs: Is a half-forward and half-back who performed well in the kicking test at the draft combine. He is thought to have improvement in him.
14-Crows- Pat McCarthy: Is a tall defender who plays more of a running role than a key-position role and would be another handy leader for a young group plus is a SA boy and could help with the loss of Bock and Co
15-Cats- Jed Lamb: Is a small forward who would provide badly needed cheek and class to the Roos' line-up. He put in an almost perfect performance in the kicking test at the draft combine
16-Port- Scott Lycett: Is a hard-working ruckman who contests at stoppages and runs into space to provide a link. He is a known quantity at Alberton, he also plays for PA magpies in the Sanfl.
17-North- Luke Parker: Is a midfielder whose standing dipped mid-year but returned again during the TAC Cup finals. He is a top leader and good inside and outside and will help the slowish mids from North.
18-Blues- Seb Tape: Is a dedicated defender you could build a team around. He would complement the Blues in a developing backline.
19-Hawks- Billie Smedts: Tested well across all disciplines at the draft combine, runs straight and can play in any position, will be a good pick if he slides to the Hawks.
20-Freo- Cameron Guthrie: Is a strong-minded midfielder who would push Ryan Crowley out of the Dockers' line-up. He kicked a few goals in the TAC Cup finals and would compliment Hill & Moribito in years to come.
21-Swans- Mitch Hallahan: Is a midfielder whose boxing credentials lend an edge. He is an impressive leader and has a great work ethic. He played injured late in the TAC Cup season and with sydney liking hard nosed players Mitch fits in perfectly to cover the loss of Captain Kirk.
22-Dogs- FS Pick used for Mitch Wallis
23-Cats- Brodie Smith: Is a hard-running midfielder and flanker who breaks lines and would help provide leadership when guys like Corey, Chapman and Co all start retireing in the next few years.
24-Stkilda- Blayne Wilson Strong-marking medium defender who reads the game very well across half-back and uses the ball effectively. Earned All-Australian honours in 2009 and was consistent for WA at under-18 level this year, averaging 18 disposals at 78 per cent efficiency and five marks
25-Bris- Pat Karnezis: Is a talented half-forward with x-factor who leads forward and back. He has only just given up soccer for footy and is in the same mould of Brennen who they just lost.
End of First round.

26- WCE PP- Jamie Cripps (East Fremantle): Is a sure ball-handler with endurance who has kicked goals in senior footy this season. He is from the same area as Tarkyn Lockyer,
27- Lions- Joel Wilkinson (Broadbeach, Qld) Dashing medium defender with only two years in the game, coming from an athletics background to captain Queensland in this year's under-18 championships. Work rate and pressure are very good
28- WCE- Reece Conca (Perth, WA) Versatile player who can play forward, midfield or back. His ability to run and carry and his football smarts were prominent in representing WA at the Under-18 Championships this year. Averaged 18 disposals at 79 per cent efficiency.

Re: Phantom Draft Thread.

Jack Darling at pick 4 is a must :thumbsu:

Re: Phantom Draft Thread.

Are we only allowed to recruit West Australians or something?

No thanks. Would be devo if it ended up like this.

Re: Phantom Draft Thread.

Darling has already been given the "perth media" negative treatment. Imagine if he was actually an Eagle. Maybe getting out of Perth is the best thing for him.

Recruiters from other clubs believe the Eagles are discussing three players for their No.4 pick - Victorian pair Andrew Gaff and Dyson Heppell, and South Australian Jared Polec.
Daniher said the club would keep its intentions a secret for as long as possible.
"We'll look at picking the best player available at four, whether he's seven foot tall or a midfielder. We'll target players for positions after that," Daniher said.

So -if you believe this its down to Gaff, Heppell or Polec for 4 then draft for positions - A FF and small F or Wingman?
