Been at home sick today so I've spent a lot of time researching players and looking at videos.
ATM my #1 choice would be Polec, is exactly what we need. He breaks the lines, kicks goals, has a penetrating left foot kick, and has been ripping it up in the SANFL seniors. Heres a video of him vs Norwood in the SANFL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1JQLWGdzXA Theres also a youtube video of him vs Glenelg there.
Been talking to a few of our potential draftees on facebook. I've spoken to Jed Lamb, who seemed like a really good bloke and said WC have spoken to him a couple times and he doesnt care where his drafted. Doubt he'll be around for our 2nd rounder though.
Also spoke to Jared Polec, he seemed like a great bloke, wasn't being a twat which a lot of people say he is. He said WC have spoken to him and he'd doesn't care where his drafted, it's his dream to play AFL and he's happy to go anywhere.
Spoke to Jamie Cripps as well, said WC have shown a lot of interest.
And was just talking to Sammy Crocker. He said WC hadn't spoken to him (but freo had) so it seems doubtful he'll be pulling on a blue and gold jumper next year. But he mentioned his best mate (gaff) might be, and I asked him if he knew how Gaff would feel about moving west and Sammy reckons he'd be stoked no matter where he'd drafted. He also said that Gaff and Shuey are really good mates so that makes it a lot less daunting moving west as well (Would also help secure Shuey in the future!). Crocker also mentioned that Heppell is a champ and a great bloke
Unfortunately Gaff hasn't been replying to me
Heppell doesn't have FB which is a bummer as well.
I'll keep everyone updated with me and my chats with potential draftees

You are really pushing the line on what is acceptable research. These guys you are messaging have had no media/public relation talks yet. As long as no one is being rude it's all good. But be careful and hopefully there are no copycats.
If they seem at all uncomfortable in what im asking (which is generally just "Have wc spoken to you?") then I'll stop. But they've all seemed surprisingly keen to talk and all seem like great blokes. If they don't want to talk they don't need to, and I'm not asking any personal questions, only footy related questions. So IMO im within the line, and will make sure I don't cross it
PS: Angus Litherland said wc have spoken to him 'ages' ago but according to him wc don't seem overly keen.
Was thinking the same thing.
Being a w***er off field doesn't mean you don't give it your all in training/preseason/etc.
It's good knowing the Eagle's can't lose.
Either they select Polec who is an excitement machine, Gaff who could one day captain a club, Heppel who has the attributes to become a star or even Darling who would solve the Forward line issues once and for all.
But yes, why is the draft so late in the year?
Yeah - it's okay. I'd be happy with that too, and apparently the WCE have talked to Chalwell - seems a likely type with a lot of upside. Some would argue that Cook and a couple of others might be there at pick 26, but Chalwell seems to be gaining momentum around the boards. Could be a darkie for one of our picks.
On a serious note, I am not that excited about Polec or Heppell. I am warming to Gaff tho. But I believe if we take a Midfielder then Shaun Atley is the best option, His explosive pace and Evaciveness is just what we need behind a Full Forward.
As for our Rookie DPs if we dont take K-Thomson and Moss we are flipping brain dead, Both would fit nicely into our team and at worst they would be handy list players.

JKT is shit...and this is coming from a Perth fan!
Atley doesn't have great foot skills, do not want.
(Conversation never actually took Place)
