Finally woke up and realised that thanks to Pelchen no clubs wanted to deal with Hawthorn:cool:

Now that's he's gone, hopefully there may be a sensible offer for Lake from Hawthorn.

Any rumours re offers for Higgins?

Lake would be a good trade to Hawks if a package can be conjured up between them and another club that will deliver a top quality midfielder via a high pick in the mini draft or next year’s super draft (purported).
Higgins would be the first one I would trade out under normal circumstances, however, it depends on whether or not we plan to tank but pretend we aren’t. 22 games from superstar Higgins would go a long way to ensuring a bottom 4 finish but deflect accusations of tanking, so there may be some merit in keeping him for a year. No residual value at the end of it but may serve a purpose.

Don't know that I'd be to keen on us getting Lake, not only would you have to give up a heap to get him, would have to sacrifice a fair bit of our cap to accomodate him. Heard he is a bit of a primadonna too. Not sure if true, you guys would be better judges on that one.

On Pelchan shafting people, North can't have felt too hard done by, they were still happy enough to deal with him on the Hale and Gibbo deals.

Not sure why we are even discussing Lake. McCartney has stated that Lake is a required player.

Because it's October where all the braindead keyboard heros come out, as per below;

warning, hyperthetical.

Cooney >> GWS on a $700K for 3 years contract.

Another 1st round compo pick >> dogs.

assumption is cooneys knee will see him retired in 3 years, probably ekeing out games in a forward pocket. could the above trade be a win for all concerned?

Heard worse things.. even though it would pain me to lose a Brownlow winner..

Hawks ~ Gunston
Crows ~ Pick 17
Dogs ~ Lisle & Pick 24

Off the Hawks board, would anyone consider?

No Lisle is not what we need. We have too many underperforming young talls as it is, we need a skillfull, speedy flanker and I have reservations on whether pick 17 will get us that as compared to pick 24.

Time to come clean mate, are you actually Jordan Lisle or a member of his family? Just about every post you make includes Lisle's name. He is not what we really need, he is to kicking what Gary Glitter is to child minding.

Dare I ask, who's Jordan Lisle and what the hell has he done as a footballer that would make us give up our first pick?

Hawthorn KPP, and nothing :p Decent player, but IIRC, he was taken with pick 50 odd, and has done nowhere near enough to be worth a first rounder. I would flip my shit if we did that trade. Insanity.

We lose pick 17 for pick 24 and gain Lisle. So we lose 7 picks and gain Lisle.

Sorry about the love-fest for the kid I just didn't get a reply the previous time and saw that off the Hawthorn board, just getting some discussion going.

Don't you think we have enough injury prone players that can't hit side of a barn from 30 metres away....

Not particularly interested in young but surprised by this comment, he is a beautiful kick of the football

I wouldn't trust any deal coming from Hawthorn. Hawks get rid of a player they don't want/need, get a pretty decent kid, and we lose 7 positions in the draft. Pffft... No thanks!!!

Long kick and good kick are different things just like Josh Hunt, Over 60 metres he is good, over 30-40 he is a horrible kick and that is main reason he is has not been played this year as Hawks game plan revolves around short 20-30 metre accurate passing and he would break that chain and open them up on rebound, find some Hawks supporters and ask about his short/medium kicking they will tell you same thing. He is last player we would want.

Re: Theoretical Cooney trade

just thought i would bump this thread, as so people can see that we underrated cooney's knee injury midway through the year. if any of these trades were offered up, i would jump foor them in a second.

Re: Theoretical Cooney trade

Sadly Cooney will probably stumble through next year much like this and basically be one of the tragic footy stories. Can't train = Not fit. Not fit = Can't play. I wasn't convinced by what he said on the footy show and believe once his contract is up he will no longer be playing.

Do you really think any of those trades would be offered up? GWS aren't stupid, they would know how bad Cooney's knee is.

i know none of these trades will be offered up, that was the point?
To see how peoples opinions on his worth have changed was what i was interested in.
