Max Gawn and Todd Goldstein are shit.

2? well done.. Each club runs 3 - 5 rucks on there list,

3 x 18 = 54.

2 = 54 x 100 = 3.7

3.7%

Yep, great going...

If it goes above 20% for decent (50+ AFL games) from ruckmen in the last 20 years, I'll retract my statement but rucks are generally taken early or later/rookie draft.

You are dead set embarrassing yourself.

So the melts are unjustified. We're filling the holes and people are sooking because we didn't take Rantall of whatever his name was.

So as much as it pains me to say DapperJong was right.
I just disagree with Dodoro’s list management strategy. Hardly unjustified melting. We’ve been literally doing the exact same thing for as long as I can remember.

Take ruckman in the 30s?

That's news to me.

We have a KPF trying to get himself traded, one we delisted (Brown), also lost Hartley who was kind of a back up ruck and was at least tall. It's not like we were stocked for talls to begin with, so I can understand us picking up a KPF and a ruck.

I still want that elusive midfielder though. It's almost more of a meme than a dream at this point.
With TBell and Draper we were okay for now. Could have picked up a ruck like Bowman later as back up. We should have drafted for priorities. An inside mid went begging in Bianco. We missed an outside running distributor in Rantall who we needed more as a priority as well. We should be annoyed.

5 years ago Daniher was in his second season and Dodo was meant to be drafting his replacement already? Even 3 years ago no one would've predicted two years of injury and him wanting to up and leave. I can just imagine the melts if we were drafting Joe replacements back then lol.
3-5 years ago using a pick on a Key Forward you all would’ve been melting about not needing one because we have Joe. Im not Dodos biggest fan either but surely drafting a raw 203cm ruck is the definition of forward planning

We've needed a ruck for years but overlooked it for years. A young KPF had been overlooked for years whilst our meddling midfield continued to get pounded.

We haven't planned forward for years, we continue to moneyball it in hope rather than substance. We hope McGrath can turn into a decent midfielder, we hope Darcy Parish can be a midfield leader, we hope Kyle Langford can transform from flaky flanker to midfield bull.

We didn't perservere with the right ruck option between TBC and Draper, and instead of going young after we delist a young ruck (ie Christian Bock) we never replace that position on the list.

Sandilands - Rookie
Cox - Rookie
S.Martin - Pre season draft
Lycett - pick 29
Riley O'Brien - rookie
Nankervis - pick 35

There are a ton of examples of trucks being later picks
Absolutely you can get value at 38.

Taking a ruckman in the 30s is not the problem. It’s not who we pick because that won’t be known until 3-5 years after the draft. It’s how we build our list. We’ve continuously neglected our midfield.

Compare our midfield depth to West Coast, Collingwood, Melbourne, GWS, Richmond and Geelong.

It’s embarrassing that we don’t make that a priority when the likes of Geelong and Collingwood continue to stock up their midfield depth.

With pick 31 any inside midfielder was speculative. Our top 10 pick midfielder pick was used for Shiel.
Our picks were always going to be used on players with key position upside.
