With 2 weeks to go until draft night and the other thread reaching the 1000 post limit I thought it would be worth while starting up part 2.

To start of the second part I thought I'd throw in a poll and just see exactly who people are keen on getting with pick 6 as I think we have a better idea now as to who the candidates are.

I'm really struggling to split Lynch and Polec - I'd still take Polec, just.

But may well change before the ND - but I've been set on Polec for a long while.

I'm on the Lynch bandwagon. TFLUA's struggling to split them confirms this for me. If there is two players pretty even and one is a mid and the other a tall our current situation would suggest we take the tall as if we leave it any later we are running out of time to develop talls but could yet add mids who would carry their weight in a premiership in 3-6 years time.

Lynch and Polec are difficult to split.

Talls with Lynch's ability are a rarity - and fulfills a need we have.

Polec is silky but...I have lingering doubts over his attitude (and I cant stand his hair!)

Lynch for mine.

Besides, we'll pick up a quality (outside) mid with our next pick

I agree. People need to visualise if we are lowish on the ladder in two years time, which is a possibility due to our youth and not necessarily a bad thing in terms of our premiership prospects, we could easily potentially trade for Heppell or at least Harper who may not necessarily come on initially a bit like Melbs Blease. Trying to trade for a Lynch if he performs would be virtually impossible and if possible at all very costly in a trade.

Not to mention there are other mid forward, outside mid options, half backline options that will become available in the draft and or trade

After GWS in approx 3 years, Geelong and Brisbane(post Brown) will likely raid the talls along with Port as they trough out

Well TFLUA let me see if i can get you over the line here !

pick 6 polec ............. pick 29 (insert tall you would select)
pick 6 lynch.............. pick 29 (insert midfielder you would select)

Then decide which combination looks better & let us know lol

Mine pick 6 Heppell & pick 29 Mitchell.

Why does everybody want a KPF as last time i checked the last two teams to have won a premiership have won it it by having a great midfield:confused:

I like lynch just think we need mids.

Thats true but we need a couple of gorrillas there to finish the good work of our great midfield.

We have jack then daylight...as well as moonlight

Lynch for me he is a kid in a mans body

just hope he doesnt turn out be "looks like tarzan plays like jane":) hughes

im not the biggest lynch fan, i dont question his athleticism, or potential, but i just dont think he has that "it" factor that only very few tall fowards have.

i hope we draft him and he proves me wrong because a chf is a more glaring need then a skilfull wingman, and also alot harder to find.

i definitely wouldnt take him before heppel or polec, in front of gaff or gorringe i would be content with. if we had of selected a midfielder with 19 last year, i would probably be alot more keen on selecting lynch, but if we pick him up, and he were to fail and griffiths injuries never allowed him to become the player he should, our club would be another 5 years behind.

I don't really see the hype about talls and why would we draft him when we got Griffiths, Riewoldt and Post plus I don't know who to choose between Heppell, Gaff and Polec because they are all just guns. Heppell is a half back/mid while people say Gaff is awesome... can someone clarify on his upsides and downsides and for Polec he's been playing in SANFL or something like that. So hard to choose. Would have to go with Heppell or Gaff because with the new interchange rule we need players who can play multiple positions. Games are won in the midfield. We should get Mitchell if he is available. Good forward, so they say.

I would like Kieran Harper as he adds another dimension to our forward structure and he also supports the Tigers.

Kevin Sheehan says: Very quick and skilful player with great goal sense. Can take a contested mark and impact a game. Vic Metro representative in 2010 AFL U18s, kicking seven goals including four against WA.

Which AFL team do you support and how did you come to barrack for them?
Richmond - due to dad’s influence.

I know this may have been done before but I haven't seen any compelling video of lynch, in fact the ones i saw were not strong at all- I am a mid-fielder believer so please make me believe otherwise

The latest video n Lynch in the draft machine on AFL website was impressive for me ( highlights).

Mid heads I know where you are coming from, but I think we need a KPF more at the moment, Lynch has ticked the boxes for me, before the latest video he hadn't IMO so I mark pretty tough, Structurally he could be a God send because he could be like Richo and go up the Ground/Ruck/wing, Griff to half forward and JR to FF at times when suited , but above all the mids in 2011,2012 and 2013 let alone 2014 surely can't be far worse than the ones this year particularly with Swallow and Bennell out of the picture

The other thing is Mitchell hasn't really grabbed my attention in the video which emphasises how hard KPF are to find and why usually you need very high picks to get them. Mitchell for what he brings is a bit tall and I am not sure he will make it. Even if we got a mid at 6 I would pick Steinberg over Mitchell at 29 because his body/movement brings more to the table in a separate forward role we need from his video than Mitchell who has an endurance question and looks a bit run of the mill. I think we could get Lynch and Steinberg because they should complement one another at HF particularly when Lynch goes up the ground. In another secenario you could have Vickery at forward pocket, JR true FF, Stenberg half forward flank or CHF, one of Lynch, Griff , Post rotating through CHF/Ruck or on the bench resting with Post also cameoing in the backline and Griff shifting to FF with JR in the pocket at times.

I just think these selections it give us incredible structural flexibility and balance depending on who we play as well as run/carry and mobility. We can concentrate on mids for the next 4 years nearly if it may come off and potentials are reached

Polec + Cook/Mitchell

or:

Lynch + Green/Prestia/Newton

I really like both those options.

Thing is, Mitchell doesn't suit the existing forward structure as well as someone like a Lynch or a Cook would. Mitchell's a big bodied forward, who's really good above his head - dominated in the TAC Grand Final - but the guy he was up against was giving away valuable cm's and kg's - he won't get that luxury every week in the AFL. He's got a quick few first steps, and uses his body well, but you'd want him to learn to become even better with it. Get him to crash some packs and dominate one out.

Sure, Griffiths is pretty quick and a thumping boot, but there's a bit of a train of thought around here that people would like him closer to goal. That's definitely Mitchell terrain. Cook and Lynch however, play as more traditional lead up forward options.

Gaff's interesting: he's a midfielder who gets a lot of it and has elite endurance. He's the kind of guy who'll get the ball over and over again in a chain of disposal up the field. The knock on Gaff (and depending upon who you talk to it varies as to how much they think this is an issue) is his disposal. It's not poor, by any stretch - in fact it's very safe - but it's by no means overly penetrating or dangerous. An outside midfielder needs X-Factor and I'm not sure if he's got enough of it. You'd certainly want him to develop his inside game, so he can play both inside and out at AFL level, for that raises his value certainly.
