I am surprised there are so many people who are unaware of the rule? For those saying it is a "stupid rule", I simply disagree. It is about showing respect to the umpire and giving the ball back when there is a stoppage. How hard is it to be respectful? All these small time wasting tactics need to penalised harder: lying on the ball, slowly getting up, pretending you don't know whose free kick it is etc... get ****ing real with these players and coaches. These coaches think they are some Subutai level tactical geniuses with this crap.

That was a disgraceful display of skills last night. As much kudos as I give for the tactics employed by JL last night, they mean jack shit if the players fumble and miss easy handballs. It's time for some of these players to step up their skills or get ****ed off at the end of the year.

I would also think about giving Fyfe and Sonny a two week break. They were poor last night, and Sonny's skills are also not at the level anymore.

Amiss looked a forlorn figure last night. At times he looked scared of the ball. It's all mental with him, and dropping him back to Peel is not the answer. He needs to get a bit of campaigner about him because he's mentally soft - hiding him at Peel isn't the answer.

Had date night in Freo last night, avoiding scores was difficult but walking into the movie at half time happy we are in the game then seeing it was a draw then thinking Pies had kicked 5 in a row to steal a draw then realise WE had kicked 5 in a row to steal a draw was a roller-coaster...

Man, I keep saying it but we are "this close" to being a genuinely good team. A bit of experience not to over handball and some talent up forward and we will just click. I'll go early but we'll be top 4 next year and not look back.

Our bottom 6 players let us down tonight and they were a couple of sadly nearly retired stars, a couple of KPP kids and Emmett. So much to like about the squad as a whole.

On those bottom 6, I'm not even Sturt fan boy but for the love of all things Pav, only one of Walters and Emmett can be in the team and that's as sub. Can Sturt please get a 4 week block of backing like Emmett, I can't watch him anymore. Peel can't keep dominating and no one be brought in, it's bullshit

I mean we've gotten to the point where even I'M desperate for Sturt to come in. I'd put him in for Walters over Emmett though.

Amiss struggles against players that block his run.

Tabs should’ve played last night, or Voss to take away that pressure and force defenders to spread.

Jackson is not close to a CHF, IMO. He’s wasted up there when his strengths are ground balls and getting involved in contested possessions. Why not just throw him on ball occasionally and perhaps push Young offensively, as he can bag a goal or two.

We really lack depth, Walters and Fyfe are in horrible form with no confidence and or cooked, then you have guys like Emmett and Johnson that aren't up to it at this level getting a game. That's carrying a lot.

Chapman. Clark and Walker are formidable. Just wait until we add Cox and his distribution and work in contests to the mix.

I am having fun seeing how we move the ball from the back half.

Walters and Emmett are another discussion sadly. Sturt and Simpson could not be carried any harder than we are with Walters at the moment.

I think we tell Sturt he has his spot for 6-8 weeks. Next year we are a lock for top four.

Hmm usually I'm harsher on MJ but I thought overall he wasn't the worse last night and did some nice things. May need to rotate him mainly inside and stop using him as first choice on wing...think he started there.

He seems good in congestion but out he either 1vs1 think he can take anyone on or he had terrible skill errors. That handball over the head of the player less than 2m from him with minimal pressure could of been so costly .

Seems to now be making 2 or 3 howlers a game and in a row but then what makes you think he should stay in is he also does some good work

Couple more players I wanted to mention. We got one quarter of not completely underdone Darcy and it made a massive difference. If he can just stay on the damn park and get continuity it should make a big difference. Underdone Darcy is not as good as full strength Dogga though so it's tough in the meantime.

I love the intensity Johnno is playing with in the middle, noticeably working son hard defensively and likes hurting blokes but he's in his head and probably over coached at the moment. I'm trying to remain unbiased in my head because there are some similar Emmett comparisons but I feel once he gets over 50 games his decision making will improve dramatically, he's just overthinking everything

I think Johnson is showing a little more each game. I agree that it is a matter of experience with him. His size and speed are something we need in the rotation. We are no where close to carrying him in the same manner we are with a couple of players up the ground.

Our defence is top 3 in the comp and our midfield when they’re up and about is pretty formidable also. I still don’t have much faith in our forward line, we definitely aren’t getting enough out of our smalls, Walters/Switkowski/Emmett have only combined for 16 goals from their 30 combined games, and Amiss is obviously down on form, but if we can get even just a few more goals a game from these guys it would go a long way.

Unrelated but it is amusing to see Pies fans whinge about umpires when they won the free kick count and were on the end receiving end of some very dodgy frees that resulted in goals especially in the 1st half. The free against Amiss on the quarter time siren comes to mind. Let’s also remember those same umpires dragged them over the line in at least 2 of their 3 finals last year on their way to the flag. That 4th quarter in the Prelim against GWS is still one of the more disgraceful umpire carry jobs I’ve ever seen. If GWS had any fans that 1 point loss would have been really hard to cop and rightfully protested.

If Erasmus made one tenth of the errors that Johnson makes he would be where he is now instead of in the main team. Added to that both Jaeger and Banfield look better on the wing.

Agree with everything else you said, but I don't want Emmett as sub, or Walters.

I thought Wagner was pretty good. I think we should target a quick mid, who can break lines when everyone else is tired.

You are right about his tackling. Add that to the list. He has been terrific this year.

Realistically, Emmett will stay in until we find another forward who brings a lot of pressure.

Sturt could replace Walters, but I don't think they will play Walters, Sturt, Frederick plus 3 talls in the forward line.

I would love Winder, as I think he would straight away put pressure on Walters, plus Walters could mentor him.

I don’t see how you’re dropping Emmett before Walters though based on form. I can’t think of a single good thing Sonny did all game but I can think of a couple from Emmett.

Both should be punted. Get Sturt, Delean or Simpson in

Delean and Simpson are no where near it. It’s as simple as that. Once they start to put some consistent form together in the WAFL then they can be considered. But at this point they would offer less than Emmett and Walters and that says a lot.
