I don’t think you can play both him and Walker with shoddy disposal. Unless Draper goes out and you’re tactically playing a smaller backline.
I like him as sub (Wagner) you’re right that he and Walker can’t play together. Do think wags is better below his knees and has higher iq.

Draper….think his selection depends on opposition at this point. If Dees look to stretch keep him in, if they look smaller I reckon out he goes.

A few more thoughts.

If any Crows fans were watching, I'm sure they would have found Bobby Hill's runs without bouncing hilarious.

Umps were pretty bad, Daicos constantly throwing it out, The soft free against Amiss for wrestling, The free Darcy got in the last.

Jackson, how many hospital handballs to Young?

Team selection, really think match committee need to make a few tough calls. Luke Parker can't get a game at Sydney! Not living in WA, are the guys at Peel really that far below the standard?

Wagner is def not amazing. Had some ok moments, but he genuinely can’t kick. Half his kicks were floaters. It’s so weird how often he does it.

We need the tall I reckon. Draper was good until ball in hand. Took some good marks and positioned relatively well. Just young and will make a few mistakes.

Cox said last night at the game he was a couple weeks away.

It would obviously be nice if Wagner could kick like Noble (a similar style/size player, just with way more class). But to be honest we're better off moving the ball at speed and kicking floaters to a 1-on-1 or grass, versus waiting and kicking a nice drop punt to a 5-on-5 pack.

Reading through, it seems there is a lot of angst. At the game, I didn't think it was that bad. It felt like we were only slightly off. Mainly from trying to dish off an extra unnecessary handball. It's clearly our DNA and I have accepted mistakes will be made under pressure. Just need to find a better balance and do 4 handballs instead of 6. Or kick it in straight away from a centre bounce clearance.

One thing which was very noticeable was the Pies would soccer the ball forward when they could. It never backfired and one time they fluked a goal when it went straight to their player and he gave it off to Josh Daicos. We try to be too perfect when we could just force it forward.

The match turned in the first quarter when the umpires stepped up to the plate. The JOM holding the balls had the crowd going crazy. The first one he had his head ripped off. Start of 3rd ... I think if Treacy takes that mark and we go 20 points up, then we have the momentum and go on from there. Just a few little things can change the course of the whole game.

I see some concerns with Amiss. But I only see it as his goal kicking at the moment. Tough work on Moore (and often another). Got two shots in the first, and then both Walters and Sharp burned him when he was wide open. If you have 4 set shots on goal (which he should have) on Moore, that's a decent effort.

Just on that, it felt like we did try to soccer the ball a lot more than usual (notably Brayshaw) but just failed to get the connection with the ball for whatever reason

I think it’s worth noting that the Pies game plan is our Achilles heel, the soccer forward, knock on to advantage and keep the ball moving at all costs is exactly what we struggle most with. The fact we managed to counter that and then come home with all the run in the last 7 minutes is a great sign for our team, the players should take confidence from that.
Having said that, we really need to trust our players ahead of the ball more, kick it to the 1:1 up the ground, not the 2:1 to amiss!

I would hate to see him being arrogant if currently he isn’t.

He’s a cult leader.

I hate him.
I want coaches to be expressive and out there.

I feel like some are too passive and scared to hurt people's feelings these days.

McRae has also been successful which obviously leads too many now starting to dislike him which i understand.

But at the end of the day he got his players to buy in from Day 1 and they haven't stop believing.

McRae is a flog in the same way Fagan is.

Watched the last quarter again, Wagner was amazing. Can we get by playing the extra half back and dropping Draper?

Also, kudos to Darcy and Switta who had rough games but were crucial in that last charge.

Heath Chapman is getting back to his best. An amazing talent.

I'd be dropping Walters and Emmett and bringing in Freddie and either Sturt or Voss. Please may Sturt make a statement playing for Peel tomorrow.

I hope Sturt and Voss have huge games today. I absolutely love Walters as he imo is a top 10 docker of all time but he had zero impact last night. Emmett turns the ball over.

Id be happy with those changes.

This game is probably an example of house to minimise the impact of our rucks. Obviously it’s because Darcy is getting eased back, but the ruck contests were split 60/40 exactly. Meant Jackson had a lot less of an opportunity to impact up forward.

We've been carrying Walters all season. It's time.
Not quite true
He was actually really good the first 3 games this year but has been terrible since

Him , Emmet and Fyfe to a degree were just passengers

Can’t wait for Emmet out and Freddy back
I’d love to see Simpson in for Walters but not quite sure Simpson is ready

Surely Brodie gets a run over Fyfe soon ?

Such rubbish, he was BOG a few games ago.
Watching the replay Fyfe is too slow when the pressure turns up. It’s unfortunate but he is not clean and gets kicks smothered due to him being a fraction off the pace. The game has well and truly passed him by. A true warrior for Freo but the change in the last 10 mins taking him out of the middle shows what a liability he is becoming.
