The undertones are clear. There is a very clear problem when the AFL holds a dreamtime game, pumps it up as being held in NT and the majority of the limited crowd is white.
If you can't see the problem you are part of it.
You likely haven't experienced the same inherent disadvantages others have and that is fine, but it is less fine to flaunt the fact.
Probably best to check the inherent belief you seem to have that indigenous people are poor therefore can’t afford memberships. That’s by far the most racist thing that’s actually happening here. The undertones are clear. Why are you assuming the crowd will be mostly white are you trying to say indigenous people can't afford memberships? That's pretty racist mate.
Have you ever been to Darwin or Perth? If you have then this is a very dumb statement to make. I would understand if you haven't been to both City's then i would put it down to ignorance. He's trying to manage Darwin, might as well do Perth while he is at it.
If you two are members i would expect you to do the right thing and donate your seats next week to a local indigenous person.

See my other post. Cannot argue with statistics.
My whole point is that if the AFL is going to make a big song and dance about it being a celebration of our indigenous people and culture they could at least make sure they are well represented at the ground.
Giving precedence to members when the people you are celebrating are statistically more likely to be disadvantaged is tone deaf. Does that mean no indigenous people have money? No.
That's a problem with the afl marketing then, members should always get precedence. Members are the only reason some clubs will survive this season.
3 minutes.
That's how long the limited seats available to the public lasted.
Only 5400 seats were released and most of these were snapped up by club members and 'other priority' corporates and VIPs.
Only online tickets available with a hand full of gate tickets available.
There are thousands of very disappointed and angry indigenous fans who never had a chance to get tickets. This game has pretty much locked out the fans it was targeting by bringing this game to the NT.
All in a location with zero local Covid cases for months.
Don't be surprised to see fans jumping fences and angry crowds outside the stadium.
So you’re blaming the AFL, Richmond and Essendon for the reduced capacity that is obviously an NT government decision? Best to take it up with your local member. And I’m not talking about the paid up members you are so outraged about attending this game. The solution could be several forms.
Don't pre release tickets to non members. There were other 'priority' releases of tickets before the public were offered the scraps.
Why restrict the crowd numbers so hard when there has been zero community transmission for months in the NT.
And in reality why even bother taking a Dream Time game to Darwin when you would have known that thousands of indigenous supporters would be locked out? Many of those being indigenous peoples who will still travel hundreds of KM only to be confronted with watching "the elite lucky few" who had a chance to get into the game.
For the feel good aspect of the Dream Time game that highlights indigenous players, peoples and reconciliation in this years game it will end up being predominately the well off and connected who get to attend.
You call it a whinge.
I'm just calling out the hypocrisy of holding the Dream Time game at a location that ends up locking out thousands of people the game is there to represent where the well off and connected get to attend.
IMO its poor management.
Ummm you did see his supported team didnt you. I rest my case your honourDisappointing but I guess when the ground capacity being only 12,500 and made even less due to Covid restrictions this was bound to happen.
Not sure what solution the OP had in mind other than just having a whinge?
If you’re on the money this would also be a weekly thing outside Optus Stadium given the sizeable indigenous support base that don’t get access to tickets unless they’re members.
So which is it?
Why bother calling the game "Dreamtime at Darwin" and promoting indigenous culture if it does nothing tangible for indigenous people? Sounds like tokenism.
Was this ever an issue with other games in the NT, Melbourne vs Adelaide? Who ever played in Darwin at TIO??
