hi,

just wondering if anyone had some info on Jerome Webberly?? is he expected to play this year etc, how he is going at training??

being a mature age recruit i would have thought he would be a good chance.

cheers

Was wondering what is the go with Matty White?

He started well last year and with the way the game was going (improtance on speed) I thought he'd be a good solid performer. Unfortunately, the early form gave way to injury and he never really found his mojo.

There has been next to nothing on him this pre-season and very few posters here have him in their best 22. With all the delistings, I'd have thought he should at the very least get a spot on the bench.

Where is he likely to play?
Is he being earmarked as a tagger and if so, is it more in the mould of Jackson?

he has speed but not much else.

Our whole team going forward is about getting players who can kick the football very well. Its one of the reasons we didnt snap up koby stevens at pick 19 despite being considered a top 10 chance.

As such he must either improve his kicking and decision making or feel the door hit his arse

Started on the wing in Fridays practice match and the only time I noticed him was when he got caught holding the ball (about 4 times). He was clearly frustrated at this and its almost like he knows he is doing the wrong thing and is trying to improve on it. Might get a few early games especially if Foley isn't right but I would be looking for other more secure options.

With the preseason coming to an end,

1. Could someone please give an overall summary of Deledio's performance throughout the preseason?

2. Didn't hear much about him from your intra-club match

3. and haven't heard anything in regard to his role for 2010.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I already had a look through the thread and couldn't find anything in great detail.

I really love this guy but am unsure what Hardwick plans to do with him, and whether or not Richmond will be on the rise or decline this season. Could someone please put my mind at ease?

It's a pity we aren't in contention for the finals this season because I reckon Deledio could've won the Brownlow. Under Wallace, lids tended sometimes to be a bit soft and perhaps lacked a bit of direction. If Hardwick's only done 1 thing this pre-season, it would be communicating with the list so that they understand their role and expectations.

With Cotchin flying compared to previous pre-seasons, and Martin and Thomson performing well, Deledio will be more free during games. He's got all the attributes to be a top-10 player in the league and I think under Hardwick he can realise his potential.

He's had a good pre-season, with no real setbacks. He's obviously quick, but he would've improved his overall aerobic capacity. He was pretty solid against Coburg, was quiet in the first but was good after that (it's a work in progress with Martin, Thomson, Cousins etc). I hope he starts in the guts and predominately plays there, although he has had some good results off half back and even up forward. But I'd be confident he'd spend most (if not all) of the season in the middle.

Fantasy must this year.

He has been a class above everybody else. Arguably BOG in every game he's played. He'll be playing in the middle - and if you're worried that because he's in a low ranking team, look at the scores he racked up towards the end of last year when we were getting dominated.

Thanks for the info.

He's not in my DT team, but I had him in my SC team a few years ago and he really helped me out of a bind. So I've kept an eye out for him since.

Hopefully he can impress this season.

How about Thursfield guys?
Thinking of having him as a pinch hitter off the bench at 124k

Cheers
He's not in our best 22. Even if he plays, he scores very poorly.

Jeromey Webberley is a much better prospect imo. Cheaper, and is a high possession player. Not guaranteed a game, but if he performs well in NAB/Coburg he'll get a chance.

Thoughts on deledio guys as opposed to others around his price (Vince/Thomspon/Kornes)???

Noticed he dominated in the last 5-6 rounds, any reason as to why?

Who do u think will get the first tag from deledio/foley/cousins??

Lids should continue to cop the No. 1 tag like he did last season. Foley will be underdone and probably underwhelming. He dominated the last few rounds because he got a kick up the ass from Rawlings and was told to work harder.

What???? Thursfield is definitely best 22. He is not a DTer though.

Vince and Thompson are much better options IMO. If Deledio was a forward in 2010, he'd be a lock, but how many players in bottom 4 teams average over 100? You want your premium midfielders (which Deledio would be classified as) averaging 100+. Kornes is almost done as a DT gun IMO.

I have previously been a subscriber to the belief that having multiple players from the same team in the same position could cause them to split points. I'm now thinking that especially in SC that does not apply to mids eg at geelong (ablett, bartel, selwood) st kilda (dal santo, montagna, hayes) and to a lesser extent the blues, dogs and the lions.

Now I am in no way comparing the following lads to the above lofty standards (but I hope that one day I can) but is it too much having deledio, cotch and martin in the same starting midfield? For the life of me I can't bring myself to get rid of one of them due to a combination of limited cash (no players I like the look of around cotch's price) and the inability to look at anything but an upside of all three. Tomorrow night's game will provide a little more perspective but I'd be interested to see what the masses have to say so fire away...

Deledio and Martin I can understand how you can't go past, but Cotch on the other hand will probably not play much more than 75% of time on ground. So his average score will be brought down just on that fact alone. Around his price Masten must be worth consideration. However Cotch would probably be my second choice at that sub 300k mark.

Why are we helping the opposition?

We're not. The way I see it is, at stages through-out the season these same people asking the questions will come to a situation where they don't what to do and won't get help, hence doing shit in DT 2010 anyway. :thumbsu:

P.S - I've said it already, but do not select Deledio. He won't average over 100 and thats what you want from your premium midfielders.

Good post.
You need to try and tap the oppositions knowledge because they know and more of the player through a season than the general fan would.

I agree with Deledio. I think he'll average around the same and only get better as the team around him gets better.

Another query...
Reading some reports, Webberly was looking to be a 'sweeping' defender to help set up a forward play. But last night, Connors played the role pretty well.

Can they both play in the same backline given more of the other defenders are more 'lock down' defensive players (Moore, McGuane, Thursfield, Edwards)?
Does that push Tambling through the middle or into the forward line or can he sit back there with Webberly and Connors?

For those who want a challenge and have a spare league available, i am opening 3 leagues, please feel free to enter into 1. I can assure you it will not be a walk over by joining into this league expect a challenge or do not join!
