Ok Corey Enright, he would be in over 50 percent of plan teams but i cannot work out why! he is 29 and averaged 89.7 last year, he has only done over 90 once in his 9 years??? surely he is not going to improve!! if anything he will slip. I realise he is consistent but someone like adcock, gram, fisher who all have more upside would be more appealing?? or am i missing somthing
I think its just that what you said. He is consistent. Can be guaranteed to go out and get that 85-95 points week in week out. Rarely has a low scoring game was in the top 4 scoring of defenders again last season.
Has also barely missed a game in the last five years. Might not seem as likely to go out and have a massive game like a Fisher, etc but is definitely capable... and a lot less risk than a lot of other selections obviously. Just a good solid reliable option to build your backline around

Depends why people have picked him. Not everyone picks a player because they want them to improve. At an average around 90 and a very consistant player, he is a rock in the backline. I have other players in the backline that i hope will improve their average, Enright doesn't need to do that for me, thats not why he is there.

Agree with both of above. Thought about the Gram v Enright thing for ages but went with the Cat because of reliability.

The extra $10K meant a lot to me as I fiddled around too.

Also on Drum from a Freo perspective. I think those that pick him will be happy they did - if he gets a game. He'll score above his price if he plays. I'll be watching that one closely in the NAB.

Does anyone see value in Surjan at 251k? I realise he has never been a prominant DT scorer, but could he realistically lift his average at all to the 70 mark now he is in his prime?

Can't see it happening. He just isn't that type of player. You would be lucky to get an average of 60 from him.

It depends if Port Adelaide frees him up to run off more and create with his speed given his disposal efficiency and quality has improved. If he stays in that lockdown role he's been performing, I'd expect better scores from Supercoach than Dreamteam.

Will we have a better indication of what you are saying during the NAB cup? Or is Port looking to experiment this year?

Am i the only one that thinks there is a very good chance of Hurn having a break-out year?

Pick 13 in 05'- Currently sitting on approx. 60 games and only 22 years old. Hurn is a big dude. I mean seriously built. Apparently he played well in the WC scratch match and was taking some strong contested marks.

Hurn is the "go-to-man" coming out of defence, and this is what you want for DT. Some people are saying that Hurn will cop a lot of attention from defensive forwards, but:

1. Isn't the term: "defensive forwards" an oxymoron?

2. All the top teams have elite defenders that rack up the points and they still remain consistant from week to week. West Coast could well be a top 8 team next year, why cant Hurn become an Elite backman that still gets the points- ala Enright, Bock, Fisher etc.

Hurn's kick is a weapon! So why does he handball so much? Expect that to change this season. Im sure the coaching staff have drilled it into him over the pre-season.

I'm on the "Hurn-Tain"! who's with me!?

he's in my team at the moment, looks like he could break out.

Im going to hav to rely on you Perth fellas for info on him, he is at that point where he could have a massive season.

Hurn's breakout year was last year. He is most likely to consolidate this year, maybe increase his points by 5-10. Not worth it though I think. I'll look at him again next season.

What are everyone's thoughts on backline reserves..? I currently have Ash Smith and Jackson Trengove but it seems that there is not much on offer for backline reserves.

Maguire, and Davis for me, your right there is not much besides maybe sheppard

I'm going with a 94k player as my seventh forward so I have come to the conclusion that it's better to have Davis in the forwards along with Gumby and TDL, especially seeing as in round 1 I'll be without Buddy. I might try and find a forward/back in defence to make use of the new innovation of dual positioning :thumbsu:

I have a feeling Davis won't get as many games this year as we're all hoping he will. Stevens is probably a better choice for the open spot in the backline. I'm personally not seeing a lot to like at rookie price in the backline at the moment.

I think that is an extra reason to spend a bit extra on your backline to ensure you have players with good job security and aren't too injury prone. I currently have 5 keepers in my side :thumbsu:

I would be as i think he can improve his average to around 85-90 but the tag is really putting me off. I don't think the fact that he's not made for DT is a real problem as he will be looked to alot of the time. I also wouldn't rule him out from playing on the wing a bit as he can kick a long goal and his foot skills delivering into the forward 50 are killer. However, i just think he'll be another less injury prone version of Drummond. His foot skills are clearly up there with the best in the league so he'd be the first Eagles player i would tag (even ahead of Kerr).

Its possible as Craig may send Hentschel back or play S STevens there permanantly to ease the log jam up front.

If he plays round one though he will play alll 22 barring injury or disaster IMO.

At this stage he's in for me but I am really struggling with my backline and am looking at just getting guys who are likely to play 22 games and not worrying too much about upside.

Hey guys.

Tell me what's so special about Carrazzo, that almost everyone has them in their team?

Has been a prominent Dream Teamer for the last three years.

2007: 22 games with an average of 100
2008: 21 games with an average of 96
2009: 14 games (injured I think) with an average of 85.

In 2007, he was a permanent fixture in the midfield, but the emergence of Murphy, Gibbs and the arrival of Judd and McLean has/will damage his midfield time.
Put simply, when he plays, he scores well. For that reason he is a juicy prospect, but there are too many question marks over security and role for mine.

I don't know what you're insinuating with your post, but does it really matter what everyone else is doing?

Cheers for that.

Never knew his average was that high.

Not sure about injuries but he was definitely dropped at least once. Played in the reserves for two weeks and got over 90 disposals. There's no doubting he can find the ball, which is why he appears in a lot of sides, but I'm not quite comfortable with selecting him at the moment.

It does if everyone is right and you are the only one wrong!!

Being unique is great but if you miss out on the motza to be different it can hurt.

Again this year I am leaving alone Goddard and Reiwoldt because I don't like either player but I think it will hurt me bad!!
