^^ See nothing wrong with it, although if you are going the 2 premo ruck strategy, then id pick Redden over Stephenson as your 4th ruck. But this is only based on NAB cup form so could go either way.

With those two premos, he would be unlucky to need his R4, apart from the R11 bye.

I would be tempted the bank the $14K saved from picking Big O, or use it elsewhere to make sure you get the very best rookies.

Mumford with a massive score as well in the absence of Seaby and only LRT supporting..(which should be the scenario for the season)
Tempting me to switch out McEvoy for him who had a rubbish score last night from what appears to be a full game and the emergence of Stanley as a better ruckman than forward..

I just did exactly that, swapped McEvoy and Hmac out and brought in mummy with Giles as 2nd ruck. Saves you $160k. Still not entirely convinced having Giles as second ruck though.

Terrible game from Cox last night. Did bugger all ruck work and didn't get much of the ball around the ground either. Thinking twice about investing 530k on him, especially if he's not going to be WCE #1 ruck this year...

Yes don't pick him... :)

Honestly, he was iffy to play as he's played every other game, didn't get too involved, had Rd 1 in his mind and will get back to those 100's i'm sure.

He does come with slight risk because of Naitanui, but we won't have Lycett playing much this year and last year he did well with Naita playing a fair bit despite a shoulder problem.

He is a lot more expensive, but for mine, he's worth it, even if he drops 2-5ppg he'd still probably be the #1 ruckman.

Thanks a lot nameless. Thought I'd try and scare a few coaches out of picking Cox and you had to go ruin it!

Can't go past Cox and Mumford for Rd 1. Mummy will absolutely smash Giles and give all of us who are going the 2 premo rucks a massive head start on the rest.

hahaha sorry!

Don't like to be deceitful on a forum like this, meant to be helping each other a bit, even if we are all competitors.

Although i think the coaches who are going to be up the top probably won't listen to anything i have to say anyway :)

Well done nameless, spot on. We should be helping each other out by contributing our somewhat educated opinions and having meaningful discussions, and in turn others with better knowledge of other teams/subjects/players also chip in with their thoughts.. Sure you can choose to keep some info to yourself but I dont think its right to be deceitful.

Although I understand where your coming from though James, hate having the fickle common crowd jump on your player and subsequently its funny seeing many jump off simply by looking at stats and making rash uneducated decisions! :p

Getting back on topic, still quite hesitant to write off McEvoy just yet.. unfortunately we pretty much have to set our rucks soon!

Anyone else looking at Hale with Bailey out for what could be half a season? Looked pretty good in the game against Freo.

I've got him in at the moment, I think he could go quite well with all the ruck injuries at the Hawks...it is a bit of a gamble though.

I'm likely going Coxy, Hale, Giles plus either Big O or Redden. Redden seems to be a better scorer, whereas Big O may have higher JS. How are people leaning between these two?

Is there something wrong with Kruezer that i'm not aware of?

Will Hampson/Warnock prevent him scoring 90's?
Would love to save the 100k and get Kruezer.

Kruz is ready for a break out year but the other ruckman (Hampson or Warnock) may effect his output. Those guys aren't as good a forwards as Kruz and therefore Ratten may play him forward more than other ruckman.

Ratten should just play him as their No 1 ruck and just get Waite to play second ruck or something.

Any chance that Sandi could actually work out to be a POD this year? I know there;s question marks over his toe and he has shown that he may not be as durable as we would've hoped but he has been the number 1 or 2 ruck over the last half decade and if he can stay on the pitch he could be the difference in the rucks. Am i clutching at straws 'ere?

I'll throw in my 2c as a Carlton man....

Hampson is a pure forward this year who'll provide relief ruck work when Kruezer is resting on the bench/up forward. Warnock will miss at least a few, and it's gonna be hard for him to get a game with the other 2 fit and entrenched in the side. He'll probably have to wait for an injury. If all 3 are playing well enough, then they may try playing Kruezer as a follower come 3rd man up in the ruck. The Blues had practiced it in small doses in the preseason. Very similar to Natinui at the Eagles.

I think Kruezer is a great choice, and I had him in my side up until last weekend (ironically when he had his best game). My reason for swapping him was simply the form of Giles. I think he's proved himself as a solid 2nd ruck for the 1st half of the season, and I felt his scoring would be wasted on the bench when that money could have been used elsewhere. I suppose you could have Kruezer as your 1st ruckman, but there's always the chance that he disappoints or changes his role. With any mid-pricer, you need to be prepared to use a trade on them at some point in the season. With that in mind you should have at least 1 set-and-forget ruck in your team.

Good question. I get the feeling he is fit and ready to go but Freo have been wrapping him in cottow wool, anyone else get that feeling.

If he his fit there is no question he can average 100 per year, his taps alone are worth close to 40 points per game.

I don't think you are clutching at straws but is there any confirmation he as been in training this whole time? He'll be a unique pick, that's for sure.

A lady that I coach at softball ran in to Sandilands at the shops (as she lives near him) with her trolley as she was looking the other way. The next day it was announced he had an injury and hasn't played since.

Yes, she is an Eagles fan :D.

Very much appreciated - thank you.

I've had Cox McEvoy from the outset, but changed it over the weekend after his great hit out and the fact it freed up some cash to really improve my backs.

I always thought Warnock was #1 ruck, so that was my main concern and the reason i asked. But yes, he's a #1 pick, full of skill and from what i've read on your board has had a great pre-season, i'm happy with he and Cox to lead my ruck division with Giles getting nice and fat on the bench :)

I've gone Kruz as my No. 1 ruck and Giles as my 2nd

IMO
Kruz should average 85 - 95
Giles should average 75 - 85

Thats a 160 - 180 for $443,800

IMO
Cox should average 100 - 110
McEvoy should average 85 - 100

Thats 185 - 210 for 979,500

You're paying $535,700 for an extra 15 - 30 points. Not worth it IMO

All depending on Giles actual ability to average 75 to 85 which is completely unproven.

And on both of your rucks staying fit. I have Leuey and Mumford as my ruck combo, if one of them goes down I'll have Giles ready to step in, plus Redden as a back-up if two go down. If you go with Kreuzer and Giles and one of them goes down or if Giles' scores drop when Brogan comes back, you're pretty screwed.

In theory good but Zac Smith averaged 72 last year and had fraser for competition. Brogan is a much more traditional Ruck than Fraser so would imagine Giles will spend less time in the middle than Smith did. Would be happy with 65 from giles personally.
