Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

I reckon both O'Brien and Lester are a sneaky chance of getting games early in the season, but perhaps not in Round 1.

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

Has there been much discussion from the coaching staff about how the Lions will use the sub? A running type player or an underdone player such as Brown?

In particular I'm considering whether Bewick is either a chance to be the sub or be subbed off (if no injuries)

Like any first year player, Bewick is some chance of being subbed off. I wouldn't have thought that he was top of the list in that regard though.

But, to answer your question, I am not aware of any talk from the club indicating the strategy they will use with respect to the sub. But Voss did seem to use it to nurse youngsters.

As POBT said above, he is a chance, but I would consider it very unlikely.
From memory he has a high level of endurance and there would be other young 'uns or fringe players who are more of an impact type, generally not running out a full match, who would be much further ahead on the list to be subbed on or off.
Also, he's been fairly impressive this preseason and I'd suspect Voss would keep him on the ground ahead of many others.

I've currently got Adcock in my DT backline at $262k. He's been a proven DT'er when playing off HB, but do you guys think he's likely to get a lot of ball this year?

Am trying hard to squeeze Rockliff into my midfield as well, just need to decide who to swap out for him...

Yep. Might play a lock down role but he's a smart footballer who positions himself well to receive. Could spend time in the midfield too.

Me too. We're all very bullish about his prospects.

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

if Burger or Clark go down im assuming his next in line?

Keeping in mind Broc rolled his ankle last w/e...

He's more a ruckman than a forward, so he'll probably have to wait for Leuie to miss. Even then, Voss may shuffle the deck-chairs bringing Clark into the ruck and Lester into the fwd line. Hard to say.

Hey guys,

Just wondering whether any of you are either starting or have any unfilled DT Leagues for lions supporters?

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

How do you guys see Leuenberger's season panning out? He really lifted last season having taken the number one ruck position but can he take the next step and become one of the best rucks in the comp?

He'll go well this year. Is learning how to get around the ground to find more footy.

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

I'd go Adcock. Is the safer bet.

Yep. I suspect Hanley may get squeezed out when Drummo returns.

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

I reckon that Adcock, Leuenberger and Bewick are the best Round 1 picks from the Lions.

Rich and Rockliff will have good years (and finish averaging over 100), but I reckon they'll present as better upgrade options if you can't make the cash up to get a super-premium.

J.Brown will also be a good upgrade target once its established if he's injury free, later in the season. I'm still tipping him to finish in the top 7 forwards for the year in SC.

Bewick the best rookie at Brisbane this eyar for dream team? Job secuirty? What do you think he will average in dream team?

After your discourteous approach I'd be surprised if you get a response on this board. Having said that, you might find an answer on here by searching.

I actually think a bit different to that. Whilst you mention a more likely scenario I think we like having Hanley down there and when Drummond returns we may see McGrath go forward. I think Hanley is a risky pick worth taking.

Certainly a possibility (I had considered). Hanley's dash and dare impressed me vs the GC (after a very rusty start), but IMO he remains a riskier proposition than Adcock (despite his injury history). A classic high risk/reward, so I guess it'll depend on one's risk profile.

Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

Hey guys, would just like to know how Leuenberger is going? I read a couple weeks ago that he was injured in a NAB game, will he be alright for round 1?
And out of him and Mitch Clark who do you think would be the better option in SC?
