No one leaked anything because a leak would imply it was true information. It was pure twitter speculation from Ralph, Clarke, Mark Stevens and Tony Sheahan repeating each other's BS
That's a serious circle of jerks.

Where did the speculation come from??

The desire for these "news breakers" to be relevant? Either way their was no "media offensive" as you put it. Just give it up mate.

You realise he's a restricted free agent..
North don't want to trade for him, they want to buy him.
Richmond were stupid enough to let him test the waters and got into a pissing contest with a team with abundance of cap space.

LOL

Richmond has the cap space. They're just not stupid enough to pay one player as much as North is.

Indeed, no other club is....

But feel free to keep telling yourself that paying one guy massively more than anyone else is willing to pay is a good idea, and ignore that the fact you need to do so reflects so poorly on how your club is viewed as a destination.

Do you think they all made it up and happened to all get it right, the tigers final offer was in front of Dusty??

Come on mate don't be so daft..

How did they get anything right in this situation? One of the "journos" reports a rumour first and they all copy one another. So when you say "Remember when Richmond went of the media offensive?" you're actually just making shit up because it never happened.

A "media offensive" as you put it would be like your club coming up with the term "aggressive reset" because it hates the word "rebuild" or Dimma, Peggy and Gale repeating the same party lines when the board challenge was going on.

Seeing as how he had never been part of a successful team up until this point of his career...he may well just figure '**** it, not much is going to change either way' and take the money anyway.

One team likely to be top 4, the other likely to get the spoon (and destroy their salary cap over one guy).

Which is more likely to achieve success in the next few years?

Go for the big bucks Dusty. Tigers did you over a couple of years ago by paying you unders. Around the time of the chopsticks incident you weren't happy with their initial offer, you tried testing the water which did not work and then Richmond's final offer was even less because you were between a rock and a hard place. Now it's payday Dusty. People have short memories and hopefully his dad is reminding him of this!

North aren't destroying their salary cap by putting in a monster play for Dusty - it's something that that's been planned for well in advance.

We've built enough cap space to afford $1.5m/year for Dusty and in excess of $1m/year for Kelly by paying under the cap and having the ability now to pay 105% for a couple of years, this amount is leveraged due to the salary cap increase under the new player payment agreement.

We'll be able to heavily front end the bigger contracts and be in good shape to keep anyone else on our list.

So tell me just how how North would destroy their salary cap?

Again, well researched. How'd the 2015 extension go?

Rayner has tested two levels lower on the beep test than Dusty at the same age.

That's a full two minutes extra of endurance running Dusty was able to do before entering the AFL system. Rayner has also made very little improvement on his beep test over the last two seasons which is negative indication on his future potential to build an endurance base. Dusty is a midfielder forward where as Rayner will be a forward/ midfielder.
statistics are a wonderful thing how many games have you seen him actually play not enough in my mind lets re visit this in a few pre seasons

In the sam way, how about we wait a few season before calling him "Mini Dusty"?

I don't understand the Judd comparison. Carlton gave up picks three, 20 and Kennedy to get Judd, which is an enormous amount. 2007 was a crap draft granted but it's a completely different scenario because getting Judd came at a genuine list cost. If we had to trade for Martin it would be worth debating and would probably be a mistake given where we are at as a club. But we don't, it's literally just free cap space that we have worked over a period of time to obtain.
Yes. But they still had pick #1 that year. They had picks #1, #17 and #19 from the previous year, they had pick #1 and #20 from 2015. So they were better placed than you for young talent, even after paying for Judd. Yet getting Judd hurt their development, and didn't work. Same could apply to North.

Did you read carwos latest??
Funniest shit I've read in a while.. she'd fit in well posting on the Richmond board.

I think you're mighty naive thinking journalist A) don't have an agenda B) Don't have sources) C) Those sources don't use the journalist for policy gain.

As a kid when I first tried raw tomato I threw up. Sometimes a bad taste in your mouth is hard to forget.

But you moved on from your tomato experience yeah?

No less comical than some "quality" north opinions.

only the uneducated are calling him the mini dusty we both know if he turns out half as good as dusty he has done well every top draft pick every year is compared with some one he was unfortunate to be hit with the dusty tag does not change the fact that his apparent lack of endurance is a myth

No but can tolerate sun dried or pan fried!

I guess the point is the 2015 extension righted some things. It doesn't suit the narrative or drama, but it's fact.

That's the word. I think Boomer and Petrie were veterans, Dal and Wells on decent coin.
