The point you and others seem to be missing is that I talk about how Martin doesn't impact as games as much as Judd does, its to show how far Dustin still has to go to be regarded as one of the greats. Like I said in earlier posts I'm all for talking the kid up, just wish that it would be done with a little bit of perspective. Martin is good but he isn't great YET.

Not more stats, what is it with Richmond supporters these days, why try and talk the kid up, you know he is still developing, because of this he cant possibly impact games like judd.

They dont look real to me, they seem to say that dusty had an impact equal to Chris Judd and you know that it isnt possible.

Those are fantastic stats Bazzar but please let's try and keep a lid on such stats. It is far too early to get excited about Dustin Martin. Once he starts impacting games we'll let you know and then we can all lose our sh$t over him.

THe thread started as a comparison of C Judd And D Martin in their SECOND and i repeat SECOND year, but has since been hijacked by yourself and other into a comparison of C Judds 10 years in the AFL and D Martins 2 years

Actually, in Rd 5 of 2011, Martin was great. That can not be denied

I've seen him be great in many a round! He is a great player. His first 2 years suggest he could be one of the greats of the game like Chris Judd.

What a strange thread....

It is totally reasonable to compare the progress of quality youngsters against proven champions... how else can you measure their performances?
Simply line them up at similar stages of their careers and from that you can make some 'general' assumptions as to what their potential is.
You can also make strong claims about who had actually performed better at the same stages of their careers.

Put simply, Martin's first 2 years of AFL have been better than Judd's were.
(& for that matter Ablett's, Swan's, Pendlebery's and a host of other present day "elite's!)
The possible exception is Selwood but young Fyfe has arguably got them both covered in this regard!

All good discussion however... & entertaining to watch!

Yes the original topic was discussing their first 2 years but the issue has now spread to what Martin needs to do to end up being as good as Judd over his career. Surely that is worth discussing as well when we're talking about Martin hopefully becoming one of the greats.
