Brett Deledio has the pace and tank to run out nearly all AFL taggers. Even if he was to be shut-out of the game, it would leave Cotchin and Martin tagless or against weaker opponents, which is still a tremendous outcome.

These would be my tips for our better midfielders to break tags.

Brett Deledio - Run them out, you are much fitter and stronger than most other AFL players.

Dustin Martin - Use your brute strength and always stay in front, if you are unable to accomplish that, then play as an outside and use your burst speed to your advantage.

Trent Cotchin - Focus on the ball and only the ball, do not worry about your opponent, your biggest asset is to win your own ball, so do it.

Nathan Foley - Stay on the outside, when the ball is out use your explosive pace.

Lids does have all those attributes and I look forward to seeing him use all of them in 2012.

In all seriouness Rusty, alot of our success will be on the improvement of Grigg, Houli, Conca, Grimes, Astbury, Post and Griffiths. The first year kids will burn out, and the second year kids will most likely be knackered by seasons end as well. So guys like the above and Delidio will be the difference. I for one can't wait to see what Lids can achieve through the middle. Alot of questions may be answered on this bloke this year. And Martin is our best player (ahead of Cotchin, Richo etc), to walk in the club in 30 years.

I think that Deledio has more natural ability than the likes of Martin, Cotchin, Foley, Conca etc. so a move into the midfield this year will be crucial to the Tigers playing finals, as will the performance of our bottom 6-8 of the 22 (Edwards, Helbig, Ellis, Jackson, Grigg, etc) which has already been mentioned. Cotch is still my fav though :D

Can we say he has had the most immediate impact at the club and not compare him to the the Great Man just yet please??? I don't want to Jinx Dusty is all :)

I just wish that Richo's ham strings weren't that bad. I reckon he still would of been running around for us now. And yes, he'd be turning 37 this year (he's 1 day younger than me!)

For Dusty, he's very special at the way he plays. He's a player that plays the way finals football is played, hard and physical and for someone of his age that's remarkable. That's where he differs, juddy is a physical player but I don't remember him ever being like dusty in that way.

As for pace, I don't think Dusty uses it enough, just take his run away from the pack against Sydney to kick a goal. He's very quick, that is something I think he needs to use more.

Yeah i know, it wasn't a comment put out there to be contraversial, i don't want to jinx the soon to be great man, but this kid is a once in a generation player to be sure. (thank you Melbourne:thumbsu:).
