Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

It's probably due to people needing more time to research players due to the nature of the players being drafted. Non-dynasty drafts are easy early on. This requires a little more work.

It's pretty easy to miss an opportunity too. I was online on and off all day yesterday from about 5am, but my pick came up when I was fast asleep. Had I been online there could have been more picks.

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

You wouldn't think through the 1st-3rd rounds at least that research would be such an issue.
Later in the draft i would agree but not so sure about early in the draft, personally i was pretty set on who i wanted and had 3 different options at each pick through to my next pick.

Its no big deal, but it is nice to get a draft finished quick and easy once you start one.

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

Its very interesting.
e.g. I have one player i'm very keen on, i'm considering taking him with 3.02 but think there is also a good chance i could get him in FA as i may be the only one that rates this player.
Thats why there is often a lot of reaches in these draft, and no offense to you GG but i guess that was shown by a few of your early selections. You had your mind set on Brown / Robiskie and weren't willing to hold off even though you quite easily could have got them later. It depends if its worth the risk to the individual.

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

Nothing wrong with reaches. As TGBB said earlier, there's no such thing as "BPA" in a rookie draft class. It's impossible to tell for NFL teams and fantasy managers. So who's to say Crabtree isnt a reach but Robiskie is? But give it 3 years and if there was a re-draft one would know by then who's a BPA of those two established players.

But in the first round, people are generally going to follow the NFL draft in terms of who's a "good rookie". But im enjoying the mayhem of the 2nd round onwards, because we start to find people plucking names out of nowhere all over the place.....and it's based on nothing but their own draft board, them playing "scout" rather than relying on the word of fantasy websites and forums of "experts".

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

Pick in 10. Didnt realise I was close to having a pick...

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

As much as I need WR's I don't have a lot of confidence in this years group.

Bump this post in 12 months if you like but I reckon there'll be very few that make an impact any time soon.

Plenty of RB's left that probably will though. These are the hardest to pick. Injury as much as talent can determine who makes an impact.

I went D looking at 2010 rather than 2009. Much easier to predict who won't be a bust with D than O (imo)

Concur... Really a terrible draft class all around IMO... There are a few WRs left I am keen on though...

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

I don't see much talent left on the RB or WR rookie pools at the moment. It was bare to start with and is pretty much stripped now.

We see late round/undrafted RB's having an impact every year.

It's almost a lottery picking them but they will happen like they do every year.

Re: Alpha Dynasty - Discussion

There are plenty of very good FA WRs (imo) still out there

Sure is, have my eyes firmly on one particular player.
Won't take this one until FA though as i doubt very much he will be drafted.

Yeah, ive got my eye on like 4 or 5 FA WRs. Already higher on the depth charts than any rookie WR, and/or 2nd-3rd year players themselves ready to take that step. Cant have them all tho, as i already have 7/8 allowed WRs. So from here on in the draft, it's a wait and see approach with whomevers still left on my draft board.
