haha LD got his guy afterall....
that Gonzalez trade won't sting the 'Stangs as much as many care to believe. The way LD saw it, Gonzalez will get covered moreso than a rookie who can catch everything that comes his way and has GREAT SIZE!!

Just had a look at the Alpha draft, what is with everyone drafting wide recieviers? Quite a few of them are reaches.
As for defensive players, didn't think Curry would be the first one drafted, also thought about three or four would be gone by the start of the third round. Only other surprise is people drafting veterans (instead of trading for them). They would of been in FA for some reason (being cut during the season or for keepers) so I am surprised that no one really shopped them around much if they are valuable enough to use a first pick on.

Main reason I quit was because I think there are people around that deserve the team more, a whole league was shut down so there was bound to be someone that wanted a team. Will be interesting to see how the champion of Gamma uses the team that came second last in beta. That's why the decision was so sudden, saw the collapse of Gama and decided it may be better to focus on CTL and BFFFL.
Fuey, don't panic about the lack of picks. Beta might not have the same amount of regulars that Alpha does but I believe it is much more talented. If by this weekend you think that the draft needs to speed up, just ask everyone to be on at a certain time, create a draft list and speed through two rounds (or send GG - a third party a list of preferences). And GG is right, if your heart isn't in the league and you would rather someone else take over, let them.
GG, an expansion team or two next year perhaps sounds interesting but I doubt many of the league regulars would like losing players or draft picks (aka going back a few picks in the draft).

Who was a reach? Maybe only Robiskie, but in a rookie draft, its not really a reach if you get the players you want...

I had to manually select 34 keepers for half the league. Many hadnt even logged in to check the meeting center to keep up to date with the deadlines. Months went by and still half hadnt taken people off IR, made cuts, or changed those keepers. Some just finding out about the draft a few days ago. That's a worry.
If no autopick deadlines were placed, and no one PM'd anyone to hassle them about picking, and we just waited around day after day for people, this draft wouldnt finish, and the league would get scrapped.

At this end of the draft (with the traditionally poorer FF players), it is expected but nothing to worry about. Beta has keen but fustrated players really.
Still think it would be best to do a schedule draft session that was required in last year's draft to catch up to Alpha. Don't make the schedule draft session, the team is autopicked and you surrender the team (unless prior provisions were made/ decent reason given for missing the draft). Sounds hard line but fair for the rest.

Just think that what if the point system changes for defensive players to gain more points (what GG has been pushing), why not grab Maybin, Jackson, Jenkins, Orakpo, Laurenaitis, Delmas, Mauauga or Mitchell (+ much more defensive talent). And personally, I think WR talent is much harder to pick up, specially if they arn't top 5 WR talent of the draft.

Trades will occur as the season goes on and people become more comfortable with the concept of FF. There are a few people willing to trade, just need to open up a few more people.

It's partly the lack of picks, but also the fact that other owners are probably getting frustrated, and possibly losing interest also. We can't let that happen, then it'll all just go to shit. So we have to move on.
I sent e-mails out to everyone in this league (except for Crowman apparently, but thats another story), and had replies from all (eventually) except sleepy. I sent him notification when it was his pick, but again, the lack of actually loggin in hurt. I figured Sleepy may check before going to work today, hence the 9am deadline. It seems he hasn't, so I am now inclined to move on.

Probably a bit of a reach but shit happens. I only have 2 TE's on my roster and he is the best rookie option at the moment.
I'm done with rookies now (on offense at least), got 1 in every position so time to stockpile defense or FA's.

GG you can forget the expansion idea with Alpha. League is going great and no need to expand.
I, and i'm sure a few others, will take it off-BF if you decide to start all over again. It's just not an alternative so no reason to keep going on about it.
As for the July 25 deadline, there is absolutely no reason why it can't be extended. Yes it's ideal to keep it before pre-season starts but really it's no big deal if it goes into August.
