Eagles/Dogs game: most critical of the last few weeks

Totally stopped ... piss poor last quarter

Your Doggies ran themselves into the ground literally. The Dogs power running is what they are so god at but Subi is a longer ground than Ethiad and the MCG. It takes it toll and the Eagles played a smaller running side to counter..........but then all our tall back men are injured.

Losing your only ruck really hurt in the end. Your on ballers were running defensively at every ball up, every throw in.

A lot to like about the Dogs and the future. Get yourselves two good ruck men and the sky is the limit.

That's it. Didn't like your chances today but everything looked except for the ruck.
You can have Lycett for Stringer if you like?

So how did NicNat go?

Naitanui had 48 hitouts and only played 61% of the game.
Sinclair had 22 hitouts.

Redpath had 8 and Campbell 12 hitouts.

But yeah rucking has nothing to do with AFL anymore. We won by 77 points because that's what Jesus wanted.
really, how many were to advantage. I said straight up he would win 10-1, and its not the be all an end all. Yeh he cleaned up in the last when the dogs capitulated with some clean hitouts to players on the go. Prior to that, I also saw him lose ruck contests to redpath, jong, biggs and bontempelli. It was by no means the deciding factor in the game, the midfield and foward line was. How many of his hitouts went to the dogs or to the ground to dogs advantage amongst those 44. If nic didnt play the result would have been the same.

16 hit outs to advantage, was a pretty wild return, actually.

Did you actually pay attention when Naitanui was on the bench?

The Dogs took full advantage and started winning more and more ball out of the center contests.

But hey if you an others don't rate his influence fine by us Eagles supporters. Unfortunately opposition players and coaches know better.;)

1. Can I have some of what you are smoking?
2. We played Yeo in the ruck to the two time reigning preimers and only lost by 14 points.

The ruck and in particluar NicNat is very much the reason you lost by 77 points today.
Go trade for a ruck then tell me I'm right. Or don't. Whatever.

Did you actually watch the game? 16 taps to advantage is huge but hey if it makes you feel good to underrate his performance then good for you. We'll just continue to marvel at his magnificence and hope people like you continue to play down the influence he has on the performance of our team.

We suddenly looked much better when NicNat was on the bench. Well for a while anyway. By the last quarter we were done like a dog's dinner.

Well done West Coast. You destroyed us in numerous one on one contests and then totally dismantled our structure.

Question - why did some of your fans seem annoyed/sarcastic/bemused when Priddis won the Brownlow last year? He's really good. Has he improved this year again?

He picks up possies for fun and although he doesn't do much that's flash with it he always finds a teammate.

Well done eagles, and eagles supporters. Pretty humble (most of em) considering we got walloped over there, reason to be cocky, could do some real damage come finals time.

We'll have to lick our wounds and focus on the roos. Crunch game.
Good luck. Love to see you knock off those campaigners.
The salty tears from Scott will be worth squillions.

Don't worry i started to reply to his arguement before the game. Still the same disillusioned outcome.

Dogs have a good ruck, Dogs have a good ruck, Dogs have a good ruck, Dogs have a good ruck, Dogs have a good ruck.

Nope nothing's changed.

It's mostly based on his disposal and lack of swervability.

He's no Judd out of the packs, and no Cuz in the F50, no Kerr with a lethal handball to advantage.

I'm a Priddis fan but whatever. Sharing the love only goes so far.

Because hes not a powerful bullocking midfield thats flashy like Judd was/Dangerfield/Fyfe etc. Some fans who have less brains than my dog only see the flash and confuse that with substance. He does have his limitations and its mostly around speed and kicking but he plays will within those limits and thats why hes great in our centre square.

On Naitanui, you'd have to be blind if you couldnt see how his beautiful soft taps onto a teammates chest in any way are comparable to just hitting and hoping and having a guy scoop it up. We decidely had the advantage with NN in the ruck, and really struggled when Sinclair was in there.

Because in previous years Priddis used to just throw it on the boot and turn it over constantly. This year however he is playing to his strengths far more by handballing to better ball users and kicking only if forced to. Whether this has to do with the improvement of the other mids or coaches directives I don't know.

Dogs don't have a good ruck, and we all know it. We've got a developing one but not a finals quality one. That's why there's been some noise about Martin and a few others.

It's not our only list gap, as you would expect from a relatively young list. It just hasn't been shown up that badly except for one or two occasions, which is why some get lured into thinking that it's not a big issue. Problem is on those few occasions you get smashed in the middle and it eventually tells.

Nicnat is at maybe the peak of his powers, was great today. Be interesting to see if Goldstein has such an impact next week - if so, we could be in trouble again.

Pants pulled down today, not not going to slit my wrists over it. More interested to see how the team settles ready for a crack at the finals. WCE very good against a Dog's side that shuffled the decks a bit too much in the lead up and finally got burnt by the ruck strategy and not getting enough value out of the players coming in.

I said nothing of the sort, and you still don't get my point. Its nothing regarding Nic personally its the ruck in general. Yeh he had 16 hitouts to advantage, but what happened after that. He may have hit straight down someones throat, who is tackled within 1/2 a second, and still a stat that is a hitout to advantage. Yes in the last quarter I think 3 I saw where he hit straight to someone which resulted in a goal seconds later. This all started because someone said he will hit it down someones throat all day blah blah. If nic wasnt there the result would have been the same. Half your goals came from rebounds off our forward line, it was nothing to do with the ruck. Your mids won just as much ball off our ruck wins. My point was and still is, the ruck has little outcome on the game.... its the midfield battle that counts. Campbell had 16 hitouts or whatever it was, they didn't all, if any result in goals either.

You should probably research how a hitout to advantage is awarded before sharing ignorant opinions.

Furthermore, even a hitout that isn't judged as to advantage doesn't mean that your team doesn't obtain an advantage from it. The ability to be aggressive and disrupt opposition structures plays a huge role but is difficult to reflect is publicly available statistics.

Yeah Goldy at Etihad will prove a problem. Difference is you guys play Etihad like a book. You game plan out of denfense and your run work well there as it's a short ground.

Move it quickly and get it into your forwards and you can beat anyone there.
