Every news article here in perth, show supporters with brand new scarves, jackets etc.

I am proud that my Bombers scarves still have the VFL logo on them.

I'm not so sure the club would be. Think of the money they miss out on from merchandising, just because you think you're a premier fan for having a 15+ year old scarf. Big deal. That makes you a barracker, not a supporter.

Look at the EPL: the fans buy the new merchandise every year, and the clubs have excess funds to splash around as they please. Yet here, because you have a ratty old scarf/jumper, we should applaud you?

No wonder the Eagles facilities are one of the best in the land; their fans aren't so frugal.

(Note: On that ad Joffa is in, his jumper is at least 5 years old. Surely for someone so passionate, he could wear the right top, but instead it looks like he spends all his money on alcohol, junk junk and legal fees)

Well, I'm not in Melbourne yet, but I'll be wearing a scarf to the game that was there at the 1992 Grand Final...

When're you getting here Mr Q? I've had my scarf since 1987 and its NEVER been washed! Adds character I say! Threads hanging out of it everywhere.... it's a disgrace, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tess,

Interesting Fact:

The toothbrush was invented in your local area
If it were invented in WA it would be called a teethbrush

Mine's never been washed either. Guinness stains from 'The Small Bridge' pub, Dingle town, Co Kerry, 1995.

If scarves look new, it's because you're a f*cking moron if you wear a scarf around Perth. The sun actually shines here and the skies are blue. You could get away with wearing shorts and a singlet in the middle of winter here. .

Maybe up north you can, but in Perth you would get hypothermia. :D

I buy something new EVERY year without fail. Maybe a scarf, T-shirt, polo or Jacket. Maybe it's because most WC fans can afford it.

It's a whole different story when 90% of your fan base is on the dole though.

I'm noticing that every Eagles supporter I see walking around good old Melbourne Town is wearing what appears to be Brand New Blue and Gold WCE paraphernalia.

Do the Eagles have more bandwagoners than even .... lets say St Blunda?

All the new stuff does look nice and, um... un-worn, but to us Melbournians it only makes it obvious these "supporters" are real Bandwagoners.

This sort of attitude really give me the irrits.

I'll tell you what Tess - West Coast is a club that is less than Twenty years old. Perhaps that means it has a different culture than the "traditional" clubs of Melbourne? Perhaps their supporters see value in contributing to the club by purchasing official gear? Or perhaps as part of their visit to Melbourne they took the token visit to the Vic markets and bought some dodgy eagles gear. Whatever the reason, who are you to judge the worth of such a culture? Just because most Melbourne clubs have not had to change their identities for over 100 years doesn't mean they get to pour buckets of ******** over those clubs and supporters who follow the more recent teams?

Get a clue you clown.

Regards

S. Pete

My little boy has a hand me down Collingwood jumper and I love it. My younger brother used to wear my old Collingwood jumper until it literally unravelled off him. There is nothing like an OLD footy jumper.

I'm yet to met a man that complained about a woman having no teeth... ;)

Perhaps WCE supporters are more traditional than I give them credit for.
