Eagles officially a force

No we are not a force. Honestly Carlton were ripped apart by injury. We are a solid 9 wins out of 13 team. Mid table strugglers for sure.

Not sure if serious?

Yes we had a lot of injuries this week........but you are far better than mid table strugglers.

I think Blues,Eagles, Hawks and Cats are all fairly even with the Pies a notch above.

Forget the rest......its out of those 5.

And on their day....anyone of them could win it.

Nah buddy. Nor Carlton or West Coast are as good as a Collingwood, Geelong or Hawthorn right now.

Our midfield is lacking class to be a true top four contender. But the our press helps to even the playing field.

Eagles struggle against the real top teams.

Played 3 of the top 4 for a 7 point loss, 36 point win and then a bad loss to your mob at the G which incidently was the only uncompetitive game we've played all year. That's not really what I would call "stuggling".

I don't really know what the thread title means but we are a chance for top 4 so that's a pretty good year even though its very unlikely we get near the cup.

They could very well beat the Cats; in fact, I consider it a 50/50 game and should be an awesome one. however, WCE are probably sitll a year or two from contesting for the Flag. Its hard to see them going matching up to the Hawks or the Cats or the magpies in a high pressure Finals Game. However, I thought Carlton would beat them today, so maybe I am just plain wrong.

Gotta give credit to the Weagles MC though. They knew where our injuries were, and they took full advantage with a massive forward line + Cox drifting forward.

Was always going to be a struggle to stop the Eagles' talls. Jamison going down as well was the nail in the coffin :(

That wasn't a strategy just for Carlton - we've been doing it all year - it's been successful as we have 3 of the top 5 contested markers in the league

Geelong and Collingwood - no....

IMO they are the two best teams by a margin - and football would be the poorer if they don't meet in the GF

However - we ran Hawthorn very close earlier in the year denying them their chip chip gamestyle

My :) this year comes from a few things

1) Spine - IMO our spine is set for the next 10 or so years, and IMO its better then Collingwoods because we have the third talls developing underneath the spine of

McKenzie
Brown
Shuey
Darling
Kennedy
Naitanui

2) Depth - Last year we had dudes getting 10 possessions in the WAFL getting a call up. This year we have Gaff, Stevens, Masten, Brown, Dalziell, Hams, Strjik, Sheppherd as just some players cutting it up in the WAFL. People underrate how good Gaff is going to be IMO. A gun but somehow not playing

3) Youth - We are as young as the rest of them. We have 7 senior players in entirety really with Glass, Cox, Embley, Nicoski, Lynch, Kerr, A.Selwood. Be harsh to call anyone else a senior as they are all 24 and under. Even for those 7 players I just named 7 replacements already for them prior to another 4 drafts

4) Recruiting - We have the salary cap room to make a move for a big name. Daniel Wells was a target last year. Daniel Rich will be the target this year. In the next 3 years we will get one of these big names to take us to the next level.

This isnt the end. Its just the beginning. We have a TON of improvement left in us. The results are pointless to me. We wont win the flag this year so why harp on about it so much?

pretty spot on post.the recruiting and draft in the next few years will be crucial. Not a threat this year tho

We only just lost to Hawthorn by 7 points in Tasmania, and we kicked about 4 or 5 goals in the last 3 minutes to get it to that point. I have faith that we could beat Hawthorn if we meet them in a final, and they're third on the ladder at the moment and considered premiership contenders.

Hawthorn are the very outside premiership contender. We are in the same boat. IMO its not as great of a boat as people are making it out to be. Its nice to be in it dont get me wrong but we are only just leaving the dock on our cruise.

Our team is in the same position Richmond and Melbourne are. The only difference is we are doing it better atm

So what is your point. You agree with me but said it was crap.

Your hating on us for acting normal arnt you? The how dare we celebrate victory spiel your giving me is a bit rich and condescending in all honesty when even clubs like the Dees can do it and seemingly get away with it.

People only knock the clubs like Eagles and Collingwood for getting on a pedestal. Reality is every club does it.

I'm not hating you, I am laughing at you. In the space of 14 rounds your club has gone from a pack of pea hearts to being 5th on the ladder.
