Round 9 :: East Side Hawks 16.12.108 defeated West Coast Wonders 10.11.71 (4-5)

In what was a rare clear day for us, we faced the Wonders at Home in which was a tight contest for three quarters. Once again, inaccuracy was our enemy as we trailed at quarter time after kicking 3 goals, 5 behinds. We fought our way in front in the second quarter and did not lose the lead for the rest of the game. We came out of 3 Quarter Time firing and kicking 6 goals whilst keeping them to 2 goals.

Agent93 was our best with 22 disposals, 7 tackles and 3 goals followed closely by por_please_ya with 26 disposals, 6 marks and 2 goals. NaturalDisaster continued his good form in Rover with 23 disposals, 5 tackles and 2 goals whilst The Jesus performed well in the ruck (12 hit outs, 28 disposals, 1 goal).

Round 10 :: East Side Hawks 17.7.109 defeated Baghdad Bombers 13.8.86 (5-5)

The dawn of a new era in the Sweet FA appeared as the Hawks introduced our sponsor: The Burra Brewing Co. Secondly, both por_please_ya and The Jesus notched up their 50th Sweet FA games this round. It was also a great week to Embrace the Cleansing as we lined up against notorious spammers, the Baghdad Bombers. Milera2Betts came out on fire in the pre-game banter, which didn't help a fast and furious scoring first quarter which saw us down by a couple of goals. Things tightened up in the second as we went into half-time all square. Then captain Agent93 started the avalanche of 9 goals in the second half which saw us cruise to victory by 23 points.

The team was lead from the back with spookism picking up 17 touches and a massive 10 marks from centre half-back, ably assisted by his flanker The Half Back who had 20 disposals to go with 6 marks. Up front Golumless had his day out with 7 goals straight, fed by midfielders Agent93 and NaturalDisaster who both totalled 20 possessions.

Round 11 :: East Side Hawks 8.5.53 lost to Sin City Swamprats 10.10.70 (5-6)

We were ready to deliver a shellacking of the Rats, coming off 3 wins in a row. The match thread was posted early and as a result we had to endure an extra day of philreich ’s bad jokes, sportsmaniac89 ’s presence and ant Bear’s constant liking of posts. por_please_ya shared her dating advice for the young Rats and The Jesus threw up. Captain Agent93 celebrated his 100th Sweet FA appearance.

Unfortunately, Swamprats managed a win after 5 straight losses - boo. The best for the Hawks was Loonerty with 26 disposals and 7 marks. por_please_ya and Agent93 delivered 22 disposals each, the former kicking 1 goal and the latter receiving 8 frees. The Jesus won the ruck comp with 13 hit outs and 16 disposals. Nobody kicked more than 2 goals and larrikin got donuts. Insipid effort.
