I probably should have researched the matches before I decided on the format I would post these in. I must have blocked out most of memory of this week. That or i got involved in some really interesting media. Go and have a read of this before you criticise my match thread rankings

The Game:

After hitting the front early in the second the Warriors took control of the game and shut us out. The Hawks handball happy football was torn apart by the hard nosed Warriors with TheInjuryFactory playing a huge role in dismantling the Hawks game plan. Golumless kicked 6, Milera2Betts was massive and NaturalDisaster played his part.

Wooshette took control in the middle of the ground and with the in and under dominance from pantskyle the Hawks were simply not good enough.

Mr Eagle Trophy

Every season in every club there are players that help out, players that provide that little bit of extra flavour. The best clubman award is named after former captain and near 300-gamer Mr Eagle, and is presented by the current captain.

There are many types in the Sweet FA; the spammers, the folks who make you laugh, the inactives, the folks who always manage to push your buttons. And there’s also folks who belong. They are the people who may not churn out 20 posts a week, who may not play in the glory positions, but who always let you know they are around and appreciate being a part of the team, and appreciate the content their teammates generate.

The great thing about this award is that I can choose to recognise whatever I want to, and in this instance I’d like to honour a smaller part of our club. Today I present the Mr Eagle Trophy to two of these people. Firstly, Milera2Betts, our staunch back pocket defender. Known for her small punchy contributions and large amount of likely, she typically explodes once a season to the enjoyment of all. Secondly, jackenny, who passed 100 games in the league and for the club this season, greatly amuses with a well placed swipe, and similarly a tonne of likes.

Round 13 :: East Side Hawks 13.9 (87) defeated Gumbies FFC 9.7 (61) (6-7)

We went into this game having lost our last 2, so a win was needed to keep in the finals hunt. After an even first two quarters, we kicked away in the third going into the final break with a three goal lead. We could have put them to the sword; however, the wet and slippery conditions didn’t allow it. We kicked 3 goals in the last to the Gumbies 2, prevailing by a comfortable 26 points.

Agent93 (24 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal) and NaturalDisaster (21 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 goals) led the midfield strongly along with The Jesus (14 hit outs, 21 disposals, 3 goals) in the ruck. The Half Back and Snake_Baker were also strong performers on the day.

Round 14 :: East Side Hawks 11.14 (80) lost to Dragons FFC 15.20 (110) (6-8)

It was the beginning of the end. By now you all know we missed the finals and round 14 against the Dragons started the three game losing streak which would see us lose out tenuous grip on 8th position on the ladder. Something else was happening in the fantasy worlse of Australia, where its resident voted against their own better interests and returned a government invested in filling their own and their mates' pockets and dodging responsibilities. The Hawks lead out in the first quarter with Golumless banging three straight. Then this happened:

1 : 24.47 - <<< SM is coming on to replace Golumless >>>

It was a big mistake from the Hawks' Qoach. We couldn't match the firepower as the Dragons kicked 11 goals to 4 in the following two quarters which set up a comfortable 30 point win. go you pups was brutal with 10 tackles, but the qumpires showed no favour awarding him only 1 free kick. Golumless finished the match with 4 goals, returning to the midfield in the 3rd quarter. The Jesus topped the disposal count with 20, along with 13 hitouts and 7 tackles.

Round 15 :: East Side Hawks 16.10 (106) lost to Gold City Royals 18.5 (113) (6-9... nice!)

It was our second match against the haemophilia-ridden Royals (ok ok, time for a new joke ) for the season and we were aiming to make it 2 from 2. The thread was a little on the quiet side, perhaps fatigue was setting in and we hoped this would continue into game day and seal an easy victory.

It was a warm day when we took to the field. Tough in the clinches it was. In the middle of the fourth quarter NaturalDisaster quipped, ‘clearly some nefarious umpiring at play here’. Indeed, we lost only by 7 points.

Loonerty was a bit too handball happy, with 20 of them! He had 29 disposals, 6 marks and 3 tackles. Captain A93 also did very well, with 25 disposals, 4 tackles and 3 goals. por_please_ya did her bit with 24 disposals, 9 marks and a goal, and The Jesus wanted his finger in all the pies: 10 hitouts, 20 disposals, 7 tackles, 6 frees for, and a goal for 91 DT points.

A very nice OP from Broken got the week off to a pleasant start

Credit where credits due, for once the Bears fronted their demons and put up what on paper looked like a fight. In a not too dissimilar fashion to season gone by it was the new recruits out in front taking all the hits while captain coward JoshWoodenSpoon hid behind his pawns. What was slightly different is that Cadaver has assumed a position along side him.

MWPP and Test Tickle were the front runners taking all the hits and just like last season where Barrybran did all the heavy lifting for the club, future captain Cadaver could be found lurking in the distance. Despite NaturalDisaster protestations Doctor Gero was once again a true leader.

For the Hawks NaturalDisaster played an unfamiliar role as attack dog and Drunkgoliath was surprisingly witty.

The Game:


We lost which sucked and Cadaver preceded to rub it in our faces which I found both amusing and annoying, but not as annoying as the praise for Its Manbearpig who has subsequently been embroiled in an All SFA selection scandal that could ruin the reputation of this disgusting club and its cheating LG

Matera92 Fizzler RookiePick and Doctor Gero stats were off the charts and we were subsequently bundled out of finals contention.

Milera2Betts SM larrikin and por_please_ya were the standouts for the Hawks.
