• The Hawks continued form and have not won a Round 1 match-up since Season 25, when Loonerty was captain.
• Also in the not-unusual basket: we are 7th overall on the ladder.
• 11kgm and PMBangers made their SFA debuts, whilst Shermy played his first game for the Hawks in his 225th game overall.
• It would be hard to prove this, but 4 goals by 11kgm would be up there in the best returns from a player starting in the back pocket.

East Side Hawks 18.18 (126) defeated Baghdad Bombers 12.9 (81) ​

A below-par Hawks were still far to strong for the Bombers, who have now lost 10 games in a row.

We know what to expect from the Bombers posting-wise; a high quantity, variable quality thread. And this proved no exception. It's great to see many of the new recruits getting involved and we were celebrating Golumless' 200th game. We didn't let him down and he was able to ring in a 4 DT performance.

As for the game itself, PMBangers got us going quickly with the first goal and it was clear that the Bombers were playing like a team who had lost 9 games in a row. 19 points clear at QT and winning every other quarter by about 10 points meant we won the match by 45.

The goals were spread out but 11kgm playing from the forward pocket continued his goal-kicking form, albeit he could have had a much more special day than his 3.5. The Jesus was best on ground with 25 disposals, 17 hit-outs, 6 tackles and 2 goals.

• The Jesus has resurged, and is currently the leading tap ruckman in the competition.
• The first milestone game for the season handed us our first win. Could this be a sign of things to come?
