this has hit me harder than i thought it would.
What a player and person. We love you eddie!

It‘s feeling like the end of an era. Simmo last year, Murphy, Betts over the last few days, Levi won’t be at Carlton next year, which shuts the door on 10 years at Carlton. In the next 12 months, Ed Curnow will be gone.

It really is the end of an era, and even though it hasnt been a great 10 years by any means its still tough to see these players leave.

Through thick and thin we have supported them and truly wanted the best for them even if we didnt show it all the time.
It didnt work out but they all played their hearts out for our club and we will love them for it.

Only have to see the opposition fan comments here and on the main board to see what universally loved player he is.

Helluva career Eddie, and while there's no doubt he has absolutely exceptional talent, he still had to do the hard yards coming all the way from the PSD. Wonderful footballer and man. Congrats on your career Eddie, and all the best for the future.

A great person who has given a lot of joy to others. A great footballer who has provided so many with entertainment. leaving us with some great memories, thanks Eddie.

It’s not often you find a player that is universally loved, respected and admired competition wide. That’s rarified air and Eddie Betts belongs within it.

Spectacular career, beautiful personality and I wish him all the best in retirement. He leaves a lasting legacy in the football environment, but I dare say it will be but a footnote in comparison to what he does with cultural and societal issues in the years to come. Well played, Eddie.

Hope Carlton send him out a winner in 350.

My favourite opposition player. Played with a great spirit and seemed to genuinely enjoy himself. Huge loss to the game.

Wish him well, he seems like a first class person!
