Yes.

Curious timing that this was leaked a day and a half before the AGM. Somebody somewhere is clearly trying to stir the pot.

The fact that they sat on the report for 6 weeks (not including the week of Christmas / New Year) and held it over until the AGM makes me worry that Eddie and Co. had a plan to spin the report without necessarily releasing it in full to the public.

That's obviously something that we wouldn't have gotten away with, but the efforts in yesterday's presser certainly point towards to wanting to put some spin on it at the AGM and perhaps similar fears may have had something to do with it being leaked in the manner it was..

Thanks for dragging us out of a financial black hole many years ago.

But I cannot wait for you to go.

Constant source of distraction, looking at everything at our club with Rose coloured glasses, not to mention his lack of accountability.

Press conference yesterday was just embarrassing.

The most jarring thing for me about it (aside from McGuire’s use of language) is that in the context of both the presser and any potential airing in the AGM we would be going against two of the findings.

1. Spinning it to protect the brand.
2. Extending the gap between what we say we stand for and what we actually stand for.

I gave the board the benefit of the doubt early yesterday over the timeline because my assumption was they were set to first acknowledge the wrongs in the report and second announce an action plan to address them. By providing the second you could at least go some way toward explaining the delay. In the end we got neither and the only bright spot was the performance of Sizer.

EFA.

If the media were on the ball at yesterday’s presser, somebody would have asked why the club didn’t intend to releasing the report until after the AGM

Sorry I've been a bit disconnected and was going off what I thought were references to the AGM in a couple of days.

Releasing the report after the AGM and delaying any discussion on it for this long unfortunately doesn't paint anyone involved in a good light. The presser yesterday was obviously driven by the leak, so this begs the question as to when exactly were the board, CEO and president planning on fronting the media and supporters about the findings in the report?

For a club accused of sweeping matters under the carpet and spinning situations to "protect the brand" this is now a very, very poor look, even if the contents of the report have some focus on matters before Eddie's and the board's time and there appear to be no further reported incidents mentioned in the report since the Lumumba situation.

yes, Ed admitted that.

I don’t remember Ed’s exact words at the presser, but it was something along the line of “weeks”, and was most definitely after the AGM.

+1

I think she is the right person. CEO of PWC, she knows how to lead a big organisation. She responds, as seen in the presser yesterday, with well thought out, measured answers, and really seems to get what direction this club needs to go in, going forward. I think she is a great representative for our club in a time which, we need a steady hand, with a voice of reason and hope for the future.
Like it or not right now this club is hated more then ever by the masses, you just have to read the articles in the media, read the negative comments from even politicians, to the distain from the general public.
This club is on it's knees at the moment, and a change to show we are serious about what we preach needs to happen today.
Personally, today l am seriously thinking of cancelling my sons and my memberships, after the train wreck of yesterday. There seems to be to much negativity surrounding the club more often than not recently, so unless we see a change forced by the board, if Ed refuses to leave on his own accord, then not sure l can continue as a member. In saying that, Ed has been fantastic for our club in most part, but right now l feel we are watching a desperate individual trying to deflect the truth to save his own brand. I need to see someone in there, who will fight to save the brand of the club.
If she's the right person based on performance, due diligence and fit - then no problems at all.

IMO she could have done a lot better.

I don’t think there was a place for the word “proud” at yesterday’s presser, and she used it many times.

And there is more to diversity than race ... a point that would have been easy for her to drive home but she didn’t (Ed did ... not that I’m supporting Ed’s overall performance)

And it would have been very easy for her to make a point about diversity being consistent with team high performance but she didn’t (a valuable point if she is striving to take a membership obsessed with winning along on the journey)

To all Pies fans who are disgusted by the details of the Do Better report and the actions of our President both prior and since, I have created a petition to collect your opinions in order to present them to the board of the CFC. I don't us want to sit passively by as fans until this all blows over, and though I recognise some of you might doubt the efficacy of a petition; I truly believe that with enough support from like minded fans we can at the very least show to those who have been harmed by our club that they do indeed have a place among us.
Side by side.

"This petition is seeking to gather signatures of Collingwood supporters, members and fans in order to present a unified voice to the Collingwood board that Eddie McGuire is no longer fit to serve as President.

As one of the largest and most successful sporting teams in Australia, serving the Collingwood Football Club is a privilege, not a right. Through his actions and attitudes toward cultivating and perpetuating a 'systemic racism of the kind that means the concerted efforts of individuals do not translate into change' at the CFC, as described by Professors Larissa Behrendt and Lindon Coombes, Mr McGuire has shown that he is no longer deserving of that privilege.

We do not present this as a means to denigrate or belittle the achievements and sacrifices of Mr McGuire during his 21 years of service to the club. He took over a financially destitute outfit, bereft of on-field success and turned it into the commercial and competitive powerhouse that performs valuable services to its community. However, success in some avenues of leadership does not justify the neglect of others throughout his reign, and it is clear the community which the club has chosen to serve is not as diverse or inclusive as it could be.

We urge the members of board and executive of the Collingwood Football Club, including Eddie McGuire, to pursue an immediate relinquishing of the role of President from Mr McGuire, and to look for new leadership either internal or external to better serve the values of the CFC and its supporters.

Floreat pica."

Good idea about the inclusion of membership number. I'd weed out every single one that doesn't provide it, as there will be thousands willing to fill out an anonymous form to get rid of eddie.

What I don't understand is;

"Armstrong said he did not experience any racism during his time at the club between 2014 and 2015, but, based on the accusations made by Lumumba, it was clear "stuff is not right within that football club and clearly it's systemic". "

I thought H pushed it to a point while still at the club where it was addressed with the players and stopped. Maybe that was the rude awakening? Maybe those that used the offensive nickname and racist undertones had already departed?

I’m happy he is finishing up, but social warriors don’t run the club either. No thanks
True, social warriors don't run the club. Fans do. And as a lifelong fan this is how I feel about where our club is at.

Disagree if you want, but don't minimise the concerns of someone just because you think they're a 'social warrior'.

IMO what should happen is that Ed stand down of his own volition ...

... what that might look like is tonight an existing board member stands down (Waislitz? Holgate? Korda?), and they are replaced by a new President-in-waiting who takes on the role of VP. Then Ed stands down on the eve of the season.

Not convinced pushing him out would be healthy, but maybe it’d be healthier than him sticking around until the end of the season.

in the spirit of this thread.... I want to submit a name for the presidency. Troy Ruscoe. Yes, he's not an obvious choice but the sky is the limit with Troy. I'm sure he can nail down a starring role in the forward line between his duties in the presidency...
