just read edfl proboards, West Coburg thread, and it also sounds like Mo Kakoor is heading Northern Saints way

Two top players to add to their mix

Marwin Abdul-wahed west coburg to northern saints... Very good player was on a VFL list last year... Saints tried to get him for 2011 but had already signed a contract

Apparently is close to a done deal now though

Marwan going to play with his brothers, great get for Northern Saints

Daheg "douggy" Abdul-wahed was an absolute pleasure to watch this year... Star! Sells the candy mote than anyone I've ever seen and never gets caught was a great recruit for the saints this year

Daniel Harris has signed on as playing assistant with APW as well as junior development mentor ... big signing that one !!

I've heard that it's going to be a big year for player movement with C grade coming in, lots of clubs trying to avoid going down. Now that most leagues are finishing up there could be plenty of action for the next couple of months.

Yeah agree

Could be dangerous for clubs tempted to spend more than they can afford

Saw Daniel Harris and Big Lance have been confirmed on local footy section of Herald Sun.

Any other big signings coming?

Seems that Airport West has finally recruited a high profile player and what a catch! I hear this may only be the tip of the iceberg player and coach wise. All roads seem to be leading to APW. They have a great list that just needs some matchwiners.

Have heard Moonee Valley are chasing a few, apparently played second half of year with only about 28 regulars for both senior and reserves sides so need to inject plenty of numbers

Moonee valley have fallen hard from a grade... So did hadfield And east keilor... Haddy and east keilor back on track now though

Yeah you can't try to hang on too long or you hurt yourself long term. East Keilor definately showing you can come back from it though, Northern Saints should give encouragement to those struggling sides as well.

They need to get a few good recruits and then find people who just want to play footy and don't care about the almighty dollar. That's how you set up a solid base that can be built on if you have young talent coming through.

It's all about the juniors... Hadfield have two sides in each age group... East keilor Juniors pretty healthy at the moment also... Won numerous flags the last three years... Marby juniors also have improved dramatically

Clubs in growth corridors have a solid advantage

This is true for the B grade comp but in A grade you need the $$$ pure and simple. There is a big difference between 1st and 2 div in juniors and Hadfields juniors have been very good however they are in 2 division and EK are in 3rd div so the number of juniors that would ultimately play in an A grade side would be small I would guess so its back to being able to fund an A grade side if you want to just stay up in A grade.

This is not a shot at Hadfield and EK juniors, good on them and they have earned their success and seem to have good programs, but they need juniors successful in Div 1 for those to flow through into A grade.

Early predictions for top 6 2012 in no particular order

APW- making some noise about unnamed recruits and already have announced Harris

West coburg- runner up should be up there abouts next year again

Glenroy- whitnall should be able to attract quality players not just from craigieburn already have some quality players on their list such as baker kite woodhouse dulic Pitts

Tulla- always there abouts

Northern saints- finally tasted finals action in 2011 looking to go even better next year good young list plenty of room for improvement

With division 2 and Division 3 being implemented after 13 rounds, only 8 sides will progress to Div 2 and complete the season in new division with the remainder going into Div3. Assuming the the six teams mentioned progress to div 2, what other 3 teams will make up the 8? Remember Taylors Lakes comes back.

Favourites to make up B Grade after 13 rounds in 2012 when the EDFL split the teams into B and C Grade are following 6 teams.
Airport West- Finalist in 2011 and recruiting heavily
Tullamarine- Been in top 4 for last few years and should remain there
West Coburg- Grand finalist in 2011 & one of the top sides at this level
Taylors Lakes-Back from A Grade and will make finals in B Grade
Glenroy-Whitnall new coach with new players from Craigieburn
Northern Saints-Big improvers and destined to play finals again in 2012

That would leave 2 spots. Who will make up the rest of B grade and who will drop down?
Keilor Park, Hadfield, East Keilor, Westmeadows. For those out of this group who go down to C Grade, it will be a very negative blow to the club.

Keilor Park are always up there. East Keilor will not get the DREAM draw they had in 2011 (is Kolyneuk going to be retained as coach?), Westmeadows will need to recruit good coach for stability, Hadfield need to recruit.

The remaining clubs including Hillside, Moonee Valley, Jacana, Roxburgh Park may be better off going into a C Grade and then maybe winning a premiership and building up into a B Grade Club
